No kidding. A lot of arguing over one of the guys that will make up the yearly contingent of broken down pitchers trying to catch on any way they can.
These guys will never, ever, be allowed to take any innings from guys that need innings. They are disposable arms whose only value to the organization literally is to make sure all the affiliates always have a guy standing on the mound throwing the ball towards home plate.
People on here love to get all up in arms over everything.
Think you're trying to read something between the lines that isn't there, but that's JMO. I haven't seen or heard anything attributed to Hart or Coppy that inferred that Folty's rotation spot was ever in danger - maybe whether that spot is #2, #3, #4, or #5. They initially wanted two veteran starters on short-term deals from day one, and the Garcia thing seemed more like it kinda just dropped in their laps. Just me, but I don't think they'd have picked Collmenter's option up if they thought they were going to be able to add three rotation pieces on one-year deals. Like Knucksie mentioned, it certainly won't hurt to have a veteran or two around in the event someone gets hurt and Wisler or Blair haven't forced the issue, but Folty's age-24 season looks a lot like Julio's age-24 season.
I'll admit that they've surprised us all with several moves, but sending Folty down at this point would be the biggest surprise of all by far to me - he's looked much more like he "belongs" than either of the other two.
