Braves sign Jonny Gomes

One thing that I do find interesting about Hart so far is that it seems that other than the one Cuban he missed out on, every free agent he is said to be pursuing or interested in has been signed. Of course that might be because of who he has signed, but seems to get who he wants or to whom he makes offers.

It doesn't exactly feel like Christmas morning, but this was the best available fit right now. Figures to start against LHP, get subbed out late in games for defense, and PH. This year is gonna be beyond interesting.

I'd be a lot happier if the Braves can get a fringe prospect for Gomes at either the 2015 or 2016 deadline. At this point, at least for the next two years, that should be Atlanta's modus: like the Pirates of ten-to-fifteen years ago, just sign your Kenny Loftons each offseason and flip them after a few months.

That seems to be the plan with signings like KJ, Grilli, Callaspo, AJ, Gomes, Jim Johnson and even CJ could get traded as well.
