Braves sign Pierzynski

@mlbbowman
The #Braves will have to eventually create a 40-man spot for Pierzyynski. They've recently talked to some clubs about LHP Luis Avilan.

That rationale would make sense if we didn't have a catcher playing LF

This.

Though I wonder if this means Gattis is heading out of town soon. Either way, I wanted no part of AJ. You can handle a douche that no one likes if they are great, like Arod was. But AJ isn't very good.

I was hoping all the rumors by Bowman about our interest in him were a bad joke. Alas it seems this terrible off-season is almost complete. Can it get any worse? My guess is that it can, I expect we'll trade Gattis for too little among other bad moves.

No wonder the Rangers never did anything under Hart.

Jesus you're negative.

Team will rally around their collective hate for Pierzynski and gel into an amazing clubhouse. Brilliant move Hart.

At least the $ is minimal.

@JonHeymanCBS
Pierzynski braves deal, expected to be about $2M for 2015, won't be finalized until january

In the latest survey of 100 major league players by Men's Journal, Pierzynski was voted (34%) as the "most hated player" in the league. The New York Yankees' Alex Rodriguez (10%) and Nick Swisher (9%) finished second and third, respectively.

"(Pierzynski) likes to talk a lot of (stuff), and I've heard he's a bad teammate," one National League pitcher tells Men's Journal. "He's been (mean) to guys on his own pitching staff. Basically, if you haven't got five years in the big leagues, he treats you like you're a peasant. He's that kind of guy."

A vocal contingent wanted Swisher signed by the Braves as a FA. Don't know if the org had ever even mentioned his name, except in jest, but frankly hope they were sensible enough not to. Anyway, yours truly pointed to that survey (yes, he's regarded as a clown). Further, his career post-season OPS were posted and the numbers were nausea-inducing. The comments were completely ignored, and they just went about their banter, as if it were fantasy league talk.

We would have been much, much better off keeping Evan behind the plate, Bethancourt as his backup, and signed Aoki to play left. This is a really bad signing.

AJ is also one of the worst pitch framers in the game. Ranked 101st of 118 (RAA -7.6) ranked catchers in 2012 and 118th ( RAA -15.3) of 123 in 2013 and a combined RAA of -5.6 in 2014 which puts him at 90th of 113.
