loljust channeling my inner Greg Maffei
So if AA sign the best relievers available the fastest he can and now he don’t wait longer to sign a catcher probably we will sign Donaldson or Moustakas soon enough.
Just asking how i supposed to feel? I know this guy had a good year last year but do he make us a better team?

2019 OPS+ for Flowers and McCann 86 each. OPS+ for TAD 107. Significant improvement IMO
D'Arnaud 1.6 fWAR in 103 games in 2019
McCann 1.1 fWAR in 85 games
Maybe half a win extra. Maybe.
The improvement is coming from the pen. We are largely holding serve elsewhere.
Not to mention that the Lairdership that isn't quantified with Mac Attack managing the staff.

Some improvement may also come internally. Acuna and Albies are potential monsters. Ender should hopefully be healthier. Soroka and Fried might take another step. Hopefully Folty is more 2018 than 2019. That’s the main advantage of a young core.
As surprising as the Smith signing was, the overall plan appears to be supplementing the homegrown core with enough FA talent to project for 90+ wins and a shot at the playoffs. Buying or selling at the deadline will be determined by contention status of that particular season.
Yeah...further breakout from young players is likely to be the other source of improvement...could be a 100 win team if we can hold serve at third
