Meh, I think we pretty much know what he is despite his spring. I'd prefer not to use a bench spot on him, personally.

I have had this discussion too.. but will he bump Beckham, or do we send Jace down to the minors..

known.. flowers or Lavarnway {he is having an outstanding spring behind the plate}
and KJ are 2 of the 5 bench spots... So then you have Bourn, Swisher, Frenchy, Boni, Beckham, Brignac battling for the other 3. one of Bourn or Swisher will be on the team.. they will not eat both salaries... and they will have Beckham or Brignac as another.. so that really leaves one spot for Bourn (assuming swish gets first), Boni, Frenchy... I like Frenchy personally..

I was under the impression that Flowers was brought in because he's such a good pitch framer to help as the young arms begin arriving - relatively sure he's a "lock" since his contract is for 2 years plus an option.

I didn't think Flowers was going anywhere.. I have high hopes for him. Just pointing out some individual battles. Ryan will be the AAA catcher.. but I didn't know he was gunning guys out like that.. thrown 5 of 8 base stealers out.. that is HUGE!!
 
Bowman with some speculation on a minor trade.

Because Max Stassi will be sidelined to start the season, the Astros are looking for a backup catcher, and they could soon call the Braves about Ryan Lavarnway or Blake Lalli. The Braves signed Lalli to a Minor League deal in January when there was concern that Lavarnway might be dealing with a significant shoulder injury. There might not be reason for Atlanta to send Lavarnway and Lalli to Triple-A Gwinnett to begin the season.
