Braves to acquire Brandon Phillips

**** all that. Brandon Phillips makes the all star team! Why? Because **** you thats why. Sprinkle some of that hometown magic dust on him and he is good to go. You know he is going to play every day because he isna highly paid veteran who will get his feelings hurt if he doesnt get enough at bats whether he hits .125 or .325 so might as well hope for the best.

Unfortunate news about Rodriguez. Thought we could have had a Jose Bautista lite situation at a cheap price.

Anyone know how insurance works with SRod since it wasn't baseball related?

If we had it, and I would think we did, it would pay a substantial portion (perhaps 80%) of the contract value. The insurance premium, as you might imagine, is not cheap, though not as bad as it would be for a high risk player. While there can be exclusions, it's unlikely that a car wreck would be one of the.

Since Phillips waived his no trade, are we able to trade him when Rodriguez is back in a few months? Not that he'd return much, but just trying to find a silver lining.

This thread is fun to read. "Coppy continues to befuddle." No, SeanRod out 3-5 months. "Braves playing fast and loose with injuries." No, they just found out on Friday.

Hilarious. 😂

Not as good as SRod but still a useful piece. His numbers weren't significantly better at home last year so I don't expect a huge drop leaving the GAB. He's not a star anymore but he shouldn't be a SVOD either.

Really bummed about SRod. Was really curious to see what he could do. Phillips is likely not much of a drop-off when it comes to overall value, but I was curious to see if SRod could continue that power surge to some degree.

We REALLY need to RHH OF now. At this point, hoping for Angel Pagan.

The Reds are paying most of his salary and the Braves are reportedly giving up nothing (not surprising given the 10/5 rights for Phillips). I don't know how anyone could see this as a bad move. We'll probably pay less 5-6 million for him.

Since he already nixed the deal once, I wonder if the Braves are agreeing to give him a NTC in order to facilitate the deal?

I'm going to guess Jason Hursh and Zach Bird

Yeah, that's along the lines of what I was thinking. Maybe a 40-man arm like Biddle, Hursh, or Jackson and a fringe prospect like Tyler Pike or Dylan Moore?

Awful? I absolutely love the way the dude can glove it...it's going to be fun watching him and Dansby put on a show.

Watch him play solid defense for us while serving as a mentor for Ozzie. The cherry on top will be the Braves trading him to a contender for better prospects at the deadline.
