Braves trade CJ for Swisher, Bourn, $$$

If we eat his salary to get a prospect back, does the prospect have to pass through waivers too?

They'll spend the money. He's garbage but if it's CJ for Swisher then the whole point is to get out of CJ's 2017 year.
 
I actually like this. Swisher sucks, but he's a corner OF and we need ones. If he's worthless, then he's only owed $15 million next year and then we're off the hook. He has a vesting options for 2017, but it only vests if he has 550 PAs and passes a physical. So we're off the hook from his contract almost certainly after next year and have more money freed up for 2017.
