Braves Trade Deadline Rumors

Really? Im amazed at the lack of baseball knowledge. Santana is a MUCH better pitcher this year than Medlen.

Yeah, no.

Santana has been better, but he hasn't been THAT much better. You're also forgetting that Medlen is 3 years younger. So, how does giving up Medlen plus others for someone like Santana make us better?

I don't trust Santana and based on what KC is saying about the asking price, then I'd just walk away. Sounds like they want more than what Texas got for Garza. He's been inconsistent his whole career. I don't want to give up a lot for him when it's obvious KC is trying to sell high. I'd rather go after Peavy if the price is reasonable.

No surprise we are left with this headache.

The relevant question, as always, is how they will pitch going forward. Past performance is relevant only to the extent it is predictive of future performance. So what do you expect Santana and Medlen to pitch like in August and September? I'm curious.

I think the problem is watching Medlen is that velo is down and control is also erratic. The curveball to Davis the other day was in my opinion, was symptomatic of Medlen right now. Santana has power pitcher written all over him. Velo is 94+ right now and is pitching in a rough American league. We need a power pitcher.

So what kind of FIP or choose whatever metric you want would you expect out of Medlen and Santana the last two months of this year. Enquiring minds want to know.

I'll take Ervin over Peavy

Looking at Peavy's numbers, I'm not sure if people are just being nostalgic and think we're getting the old Peavy or the White Sox version. He hasn't been the TOR dominant starter I always thought he might be.

As for Ervin. If he's a FA at the end of the year, I don't see why we need to give up a bunch to get him.

Could've grabbed him before the season. No depth. It is a killer.

No depth?

We had Hudson, Medlen, Teheran, Minor, Maholm with Beachy expected and Wood on the radar.

That's 7 potential options before the season.

Why would we need to have him as well? These injuries just happened. :Gasp:

I dont know anything about the farms of either CWS or KC but just curious and dont want to start a fire storm but If CWS move Rios would they do Heyward for Peavy and KC really doesnt have much in their OF either would they have any interest or demand. We do have more OFers than normally are carried. If you come right down to nuts and bolts we have little to offer in trade other than pitchers at the minor league level.
