Braves Trade Deadline Rumors

Jeff Passan ‏@JeffPassan 1m

Want to know where the trade market is? The Giants are asking teams for a major league-ready starting pitcher for Javier Lopez.

Of course they're going to ask. You're not going to ask for low-ball offers when the guy you're offering is coming at a Premium.

They'll eventually drop their asking by the deadline.

Well sorta.

I don't know what Lopez market value is but you don't list a $90,000 home for $ 350,000 if you want to drum up interest either. Buyers will essentially say that you aren't really interested in selling and move on.

Sources tell me Astros LHP Erik Bedard's recent strong outings, plus season performance has lead to interest from teams as deadline nears.

We had minimal depth. That is an obvious fact.

No, it is not. We had 5 quality starters on the staff already plus Beacy returning mid season.

Not to metion our top prospects were pitchers in the higher levels.

So far, we've had 6 pitchers make starts for us, Beachy will make 7. You are being ridiculous.

Well, if Minor-Teheran-Medlen pitch near what they did against the Cards, with Beachy coming back and having Maholm/Wood fill out the rotation, Id be fine with just getting a few RPs to build to an already very good bullpen.

I just think this weekend was one of those cases where our guys finally focused, had a gameplan, and from the get-go they wanted to see how they measured up against the best team in baseball record wise. Im just afraid this team will go back to old habits against the Rockies.

Anyways, it seems teams are asking a lot for there assets as of now. Lets hope they demand less bc as of now im expecting to get a James Russell type and thats it.

Congrats to Carp on doing that in 33 AB's.

Congrats to Saunders, he of the CAREER line of 221 / 289 / 367

Lastly, congrats to De Aza, who I've always liked and would've much preferred to BJ Upton.

Chase Headley makes way too much sense. Whoever gets him is gonna get a hell of a player.

And they are going to have to pay a ridiculous amount of prospects and a ridiculous amount in money to keep him.

And rightfully so. He's already one of the best 3B in baseball, but when you take him out of SD, hes gonna be a star player.
