Braves trade for Chris Sale - Grissom going to Red Sox (Extension through 26 at 18M)

This type of cherry picking is usually something homers do to make something look better, but from 4/18 until the end of the season:

Strider .270 xwOBA
Sale .276 xwOBA
Glasnow .292 xwOBA

So while it’s an arbitrary cutoff date chosen to make Sale look better, if we tell ourselves that’s the “real” Chris Sale that means the Braves effectively have another Strider they need to nurse through the regular season.

I feel like setting you up in a date with one of my gay friends would help resolve your anger issues. The amount of self hate you project on others due to your closeted homosexuality is actually quite sad. I’m sorry you grew up in an environment you had to hide who you are, but it’s not too late.
 
If Sale was kind of iffy going into the playoffs he’d be a lock down bullpen arm. He’d be an older Josh Hader at the end of the game.
 
In case anyone was wondering. With the trade of Sale the fangraphs projections now have the Braves with the best SP in the game projecting for 16.1 fWAR.

Overall the Braves are first with a staggering 54.1 fWAR projection. That's a 104 win rate which is ridiculous for a pre-season projection.
 
The Braves will likely never have a higher WS probability than this season. It’s all down hill from here, so be sure to enjoy this season. It’s pretty much WS title or bust for this squad right now. It’s hard to imagine AA ever building a better roster than the current one.

If he somehow gets better Morton/Fried replacements, he could next year. Assuming he's retained as GM and McGuirk pays up. But all in all, it is hard to see how we'll have a better team than this one in the next few years.

I mean we're losing Ozzuna/Fried/Morton after 24 and their salaries combined are around 50 million. Not saying it can't happen with possible callups/trades but it's going to be hard to beat their production for that amount.

Ozuna has a club option, which is pretty affordable. Fried and Morton will be hard to replace but the FA market is stacked next year, and hopefully one of Waldrep/AJSS emerge.

I don't know if we'll ever have as fun of a season as this past one.

The offense was worth the price of admission, even in some of the losses like in Cincinnati. The homeruns from guys you didn't expect it from to tie or win games for us. Rosario in Arizona with the slam. Arcia to tie the game against the Mets followed by Ozzie to win it in the Player's Only Commentary game.

We might win even more games this year, but goodness, since 91, 2023 might have been the best team we've watched. And I thought 2022 was fun.

And when Sale is in a jam and starts overthrowing, and Snit is trying to milk 2 more pitches out of him and he gets hurt, Snit will say "you know I know he walked the bases loaded but his stuff looked really darn good out there you know. I thought he was going to get one more out and he just didn't".
 
We're any of his injuries since TJ pitching related? I know he missed a lot of time after falling off a bike. People have all kinds of perceptions about what keeps a pitcher healthy. Personally I don't think it's the pitch count exactly it's the 20+ pitch innings that do the damage to pitchers arms. A pitcher could throw 150 pitches over 20 innings and I think it would be fine for their arm. Better than 3 innings throwing 75 pitches.

Yes he had shoulder inflammation last year but came back stronger.
 
Have him become a 4 inning pitcher then bump it up to 5 in September. The Braves have an incredibly deep bullpen. One of the deepest pens I’ve ever seen. Also, have him go to the fake DL once or twice. I’ve always been a massive fan of his. One of my favorite pitchers ever to watch. That funky delivery, nasty slider 6’8” and electric fastball.
 
Actually 6’6” my bad. He just looks a lot taller because he’s so skinny, lol. His XFIP was around 3.60-3.70 year which was really good in a year where runs went way up.
