Yeah, we have more than enough depth to cover for Sale in the regular season. This is a move all about October, AA's even said as much.
Only the real dollars paid is what matters.

I like the trade but I dont see how this would satisfy anyone who was whining about a third starter. He has been far more injury prone and slightly more effective than Morton. I dont think Sale would agree to it but the smart play would be to just have Sale sit out the first half hoping he stays healthy enough for the playoffs. Whats unfathomable to me is the difference in perception between Mr. Glassnow and Sale. They pitch about the same amount of innings but ones worth a big investment and the others a salary dump.

Glasnow would have cost alot more in a trade than Sale did. Glasnow probably costs one of AJS or Waldrep, we kept both in this deal.

I’m unconcerned with a 3 that will pitch a bunch of innings in the regular season. I want a guy who can impact games big time in October. Sale fits that bill. Pretty simple.

We can cover for Sale in the regular season, with AJS/Waldrep eventually/Winans/Vines/Elder, etc. BP games as well given how deep it is. We need Sale for the playoffs, not the regular season.
