It’s pretty low risk either way. If the Braves are horrible the next few weeks, he could always be moved for a comparable prospect that we gave up. I doubt that happens either way. I think this is more about Ozuna insurance for next year (that just happens to help us this year).

After reading a lot of KG's stuff at FG, he's explained these deals can take weeks to complete. It is possible this deal was all but done before Acuna got injured, and at that point it wasn't practical to stop the deal from completing as agreed upon.
