Braves trade for Lucas Duda

Duda had been hot for KC of late too, he had two homers and 5 RBI's in his last two games coming into today. He went 1-4 with run scored at DH today batting clean-up. But his previous two starting at first were multi-hit games including homers in both and three hits vs Cleveland Saturday.

I think he meant that Rene won't be added to the active roster till Saturday when rosters expand. Also, Duda will likely replace Ruiz for tomorrow's game.

The Braves' 40-man roster is now full. There had already been reason to doubt Riley would be added when the active roster expands. But there may decisions regarding McCarthy and Flaherty may now be more interesting There's also a chance they could add Lane Adams for his speed

I am hoping AA decides against adding him as you cannot trust Snit not to use him first if so. I always thought AA being smart brought Lane Adams back for his speed off the bench in Sept/Oct. Plus Lane has been a better pinch hitter than others in the past. Yankees recently signed a player just for a stolen base thread off the bench looking towards the playoffs. Royals showed how important and key this can be in their WS runs. So adding Adams to steal bases late is a wise move. I'm not sure about McCarthy being much of a help out of the pen.

If we add Adams for his speed, you probably see Reed dropped. I expect Reed to be dropped for someone anyway with our recent additions. But if we add McCarthy (60-day DL) and RF back, we'll need two more 40-man spots for them alone not counting adding anyone else. Are either worth using up those spots when we could add others instead? Which two do you drop for them and who after that for any other additions? I doubt we drop Sam Freeman, maybe Luke Jackson goes and someone like Parsons is outrighted if he clears waivers.

Maybe add Moylan to 60-day DL and bring him back to coach instead of pitch. :)

What exactly is the deal here though...the Royals are covering half of his salary, but we are trading cash for him?

Royals doing right by Duda, giving him a shot to play for a winner. He is a free agent at the end of the year anyway. So Royals can look at another player in his place now.
