Braves Trade Heyward, Walden to Cardinals for Miller and Tyrell Jenkins

Who was in the room is immaterial. Hart could've possibly even been there for all we know, because he was with the organization at the beginning of last season. I fail to see your point.

My point is that those conversations took place almost a year ago. Nothing since.

I would be singing a much different tune if Heyward/Close/Hart/Schuerholz spoke within the past month or two.

You just told me you thought the topic of a long term deal never came up during the 2 year extension... so your point has apparently changed.

Wren said they didn't want to sign Heyward long term because they wanted to see if he could stay healthy a full season.

Well he did that and now his value has sky rocketed. Should have signed him when his value was lower.

As for what is happening now under Hart's leadership. I personally don't think it's wise to sign a guy when his value is at its peak based on defensive statistics. That's just my opinion. Based on WAR Heyward is in line to get a bigger contract than Robinson Cano. I would have signed him long term last season though. But we're talking about the present.

I believe that we can do more with 4 years of Shelby Miller at a low cost and the 20+ million per year that we would have spent on Heyward, than just having Heyward.

I agree with your comments on Miller completely. I think he'll do just fine in Atlanta and I'm excited to see how he grows under McDowell's tutelage.

Going back to Heyward; I absolutely, without hestiation, believe that RF defense (plus, in all fairness, Jason practically played CF too, given his range) is that valuable. Especially at a moment in the game's evolution where we are seeing pitching and 'small-ball' making a pretty strong return.

I'm sorry, but Heyward's defense wasn't going to win us a World Series. Didn't even get us into the playoffs this year.

What? Of course I think it did... Heyward said as much... apparently 10 mins isn't enough time to ascertain if the two parties are on the same page though.

10 minutes a full season ago under a GM who was fired. Clearly not an issue.

In general, people are overrating Heyward and underrating Miller... what I'm annoyed about is Walden. That being said, Jenkins has all the makeup to be a MLB starter as well... so I'm cautiously optimistic about that.

And again, if you think some of the people who are in charge now weren't apart of those negotiations as well, you have no clue.

That isn't what I am saying. LET ME SPELL IT OUT FOR YOU.

Wren was there. Wren was apparently an asshole who turned people off. If that is true, don't you think it likely Heyward and his agent went hard at Wren? If that is NOT true, don't you think the same organization who bull**** the fans about Wren now are bull****ting us about Heyward?

Great question.

Maybe Walker from the M's?

If they would give up Walker for Justin, i'd do it.

Wait a little longer and see what is out there.

So you are complaining about this trade but you would trade our only other good offensive outfielder for another pitcher? Walker is still only a prospect, Miller is a known quantity and Justin should have way more value than Heyward.

So you find it more likely that the braves just didn't want him than a player just wanting too much money? You sweet summer child.

It's quite possible (and likely, given the hair-brained ****storm of moves pulled off the past few days) that the Braves simply miscalculated here.

Well, whatever... we're not going to agree... I just don't see this trade as hurting our team and depending on the rest of the off season... I could see it easily helping our team in the long run. I'm done. I have to go to work.

The LaStella trade was a great trade if Arodys is back to himself (as is reported by scouts)... the Wren trade was meaningless and made no difference...

I hope your boss doesn't let you know today is your last day because he didn't know if you wanted to stay or not.
