Braves trade Mallex and Simmons to M's for Gohara and Burrows

I haven't seen a single person claim Mallex and Ender are equals. What I have seen is folks claim that the return for trading Ender would more than make up for the drop off from Ender to Mallex in CF.

Who give a frick what the "return" is"? The whole point of the exercise is to build a competive team, and *hopefully* win a championship. Never once have the Fangraphs phuckwads ever identified a future HOFer...from Kelly through Black Jesus.

I hate to point out something so obvious: but wanting a good "return" is another way of saying that you want to see the Braves build a competitive team. I don't see this distinction you seem to be drawing. As far as I can tell you are getting exercised over semantics.

Maybe he's been drinking.

Maybe Ender is somebody whom they identified as an important building block? Some in the gallery here in on auto pilot for "trade everybody." He's staying whether they like it or not.

Back during the Scout days, there were posters who cared more about their fantasy league teams than the Braves in real life (yes, really). Similar situation here.

Hey, I love the guy. I would have loved to have Sale or Archer more. And had the opinion we could backfill Inciarte with Smith. Now that we're not in the hunt for those guys, I'm glad we kept and signed Inciarte.

I still think you might have been drinking. Maybe a little? It's okay, you're among friends.

who is they...who are those posters who care more about their fantasy league team than the braves

You said similar situation here. So I was curious as to who the perpetrators might be.

It was in reference to Scout. Most of the members here did migrate over from Scout. Before this place was up and running, I'd tuned a lot of them out and really wasn't even posting there that much at the time.

Have to admit I'm warming to the deal more and more as the surprise wears off. As one who has always been in the "Pitching Above All Else" camp, I have to admit that trading someone like Mallex (no matter how much I love him - and I'm a believer) with nowhere to play for the next 2-3 years (certainly not at his best position, anyway) when you have a more-proven guy in Ender locked up and Acuna coming for someone with a TOR ceiling and a lefty who could pitch at the back of the pen soon is pretty much a no-brainer.

Definitely doesn't mean I won't always wonder what could've been here though.

Yuuuuupppp. This has been my opinion the whole time. Suck to see him gone, but it was a great value trade for us.
