Brian Williams is a Liar

Bedell's right, the memes make the thread what it is. But just so I have the rules straight, can we only bash Brian Williams or is anybody who reports "the news" on the TV, radio, or has an online column who is clearly full of sh*t fair game? Oh and what qualifies as "news"?

Each gets his/her own thread - how about that?

Yeah, that'll probably be a good idea, but if you'll remember back a few years when some of us were blasting SOME of the FAUX news crowd we were told they weren't really "the news" they were "news and entertainment" or "news and opinon" or something like that and I just wanted to make sure I knew who was fair game and who was a sacred cow "apologies to all Hindus in the crowd" before I get rolling. :icon_biggrin:

Unfortunately, this is not a parody.

Long before he was caught lying about his chopper being forced down by enemy fire in Iraq, Brian Williams boasted how he bravely rescued a terrified puppy from a house fire.

Or maybe it was two puppies.

The truth-challenged NBC anchor told dueling versions of his supposed heroics as a teenage volunteer firefighter with the Old Village Fire Company in Middletown, NJ.

In October 2011, Williams waxed rhapsodic about how his dad took him to fires.

“I remember one such house fire . . . conducting a search on my hands and knees, when I felt something warm, squishy and furry on the floor of a closet,” Williams said.

“I instinctively tucked it in my coat. When I got outside, I saw two small eyes staring up at me, and I returned the 3-week-old and very scared puppy to its grateful owners,” he said.

But in July 2005, he told a different story, insisting he had saved not one but two pups from certain death.

“All I ever did as a volunteer fireman was once save two puppies,” he said, according to Esquire magazine.

He's now taking a leave of absence.

It would matter if he had knowingly lied about the news instead of just inflating his own biography.

It's a shame for him, but what he does isn't special. Anybody can read the news.

I make a lot of predictions and I am wrong as often (probably more often) than not, but my prediction of AWESOME photoshopping has come true in a rousing fashion. And all of them are hilarious!
