California Recall Vote

Imagine going to vote and you’re told you already voted?

What do you do when that happens?

What should we do as a country when that happens?

Well, he did t get recalled

So we now know republicans will say it was a fake recall vote

A fake recall vote? Nobody ever thought that Newscum would be recalled. The state is a cesspool, but as long as you have a D by your name, you win. No serious person expected Elder or anyone else to be Governor there. His decision making and policies have been bad. Yet somehow he got a higher percentage in this recall than he did in 2018.

They were given provisional ballots and then a worker would compare the two ballots and determine which one was “valid.”

There are certain states where nothing is more important than the letter next to your name. Andrew Cuomo would beat a generic (R) in a hypothetical New York election held today.

There has been a stream of talented Republican governors who have made great contributions to blue states.

Romney, Weld and Baker in Massachusetts.

Kean, Whitman and even Christie in New Jersey

Hogan in Maryland.

Phil Scott in Vermont.

I thought Schwarzenegger was a good governor.

These guys mostly campaigned on bread-and-butter local issues and didn't lean so much into the the national culture war issues.

If the GOP nominates Larry Elder or someone similar in 2022, the results are fairly predictable. It would be a shame because California (and every other state for that matter) would benefit from having a competitive two-party system.

The only way he gets those numbers is if Elder is that bad.

Elsewise, I don't see how a competent voter could vote no.

Likewise, the ballots showed the vote before opening. Not good....

Still don't see how ballot harvesting and such is a real thing.

How do you think the democrats got control in California?

And does anyone wonder why the left is crying about election reform.

Millions of votes are going to disappear in upcoming elections for the left.

81 million. Lol

Looks like trump is still the man who gets the low propensity voter out.

We all know what that means for 2024

California was reliably red until 1993... took less than 30 years to turn the best state on the planet to a complete ****hole

Whatever today's GOP is selling, the voters in California aint buyin. Can't say I blame them.

Perhaps come up with a different product and sales pitch? There are models for success in a variety of blue states where Republicans have won the governorship, including Arnie not so long ago.

They only see the letter.

The critical thinkers are long gone

Imagine the state with the weather and resources of California LOSING citizens during a health crisis

Imagine what the state would look like if Republicans didn't set up an environment which attracted all of Silicon Valley?

Baker(R), Hogan(R), Weld(R), Romney(R), Schwarzenegger(R), Christie(R), Kean(R), Whitman(R), Scott(R) and Sununu(R) all say hello.

Those states aren't the socialist utopia of California, which controls every part of the states government

You obviously don't know Massachusetts very well.

The formula is straightforward. Voters value a competitive political system. Run serious, talented candidates who care about local issues rather than the culture wars and even deep blue Massachusetts will vote for a Republican governor.

I remember when sturg told me there was a chance Newsome would be recalled. I told him highly unlikely and only one poll suggested a shot. Other polls indicated things could change, but considering who was running against him, it was much easier for everyone to close ranks. As there's no way someone like Elder would represent the ideologies of anywhere near the majority of Californians

It's because North East republicans are too socially librul for the southern and midwestern republicans.

If Kevin Faulconer (former mayor of San Diego), someone who has a solid track record and cares about bread-and-butter local issues, had emerged as the Republican's alternative rather than Elder, this would have been a much more difficult campaign for Newsom. Larry Elder was a gift from the gods. But that's the way the GOP swings these days.
