California will continue to see this under Democratic rule

California is higher than 8th but that doesn't matter in this discussion.

When my friends can move from California to Texas and keep most of their money and get a bigger house and very happy about it, it is a win for them.

My bother who makes a lot of money as a VP of a major US company and is waiting to move to Texas so he can get what he wants, says alot.

I mentioned that I never wanted to work for him because he is younger and very successful but my wife told me I better take any offer he gives me if he moves to Texas because flying will not be an issue if I am making 200k a year. So I cross my fingers if that happens and he is hoping as well. He and his family hates California but his job requires him to be there.

His job sent him to Michigan, Illinois, Georgia, California TWICE, South Carolina. The only places he liked where Georgia and South Carolina in regards to employees and union.

Hmm?

it's 8th

i looked it up before posting cause i thought it was 7th

Wow, they've dropped.

It was like 5th the last time I've checked but that was a year or two ago when they and Texas were talking about creating their own country.

I bet it is because of they are religious and nothing about the economy. If you want to pay out of your ass to avoid religion, that is up to you I guess.

But I know my gay ass cousin loves her gig in Forth Worth, Texas than living in Santa Monica, California, making the same amount and her cost of living is almost half as much and she doesn't even get harassed.

I'd love to live on the coast in Santa Monica...

San Fran and LA both have decent public transportation. I wish San Diego did too but the city is so split up geographically and demographically that it's almost impossible too. If you look at Atlanta, the city could be 20x better if the MARTA system was way more efficient and went out to actual places that people go to and use. Traffic in Atlanta at rush hour is the absolute worse. Arguably worse than LA and NYC. The MARTA doesn't really serve any use for you if you don't live downtown. It only goes to the airport, isn't going to the new Braves stadium, and only went to The GA Dome and Philips Arena by pure chance of those buildings already being next to a line. As you can see we've had Turner Field since 1996 (olympics), and the City has never had any desire to build a rail line to Turner Field to make things more convenient. The families in Cobb and farther North, someone could've built a parking lot right next to the last MARTA stop up north and those families could commute from there to Turner Field.

Why do they hate it?

Weather?

Jobs?

Mexicans?

I can see Mexicans.

Weather mainly. Either it's dry annoying heat, or if you're a coastal city oppressive heat and humidity. Personally if i was moving somewhere to get the most bang for my buck I'd move to Washington (anywhere but Seattle) or Colorado.

Atlanta sucks for traffic you are correct.

Our family reunion is in Atlanta again this year because my cousin is putting it on and our family is scattered but Atlanta is not far from my parents and my family in Louisiana and Texas. The folks in Chicago travel to my parents, stay over night then they all drive from there. They have a mini reunion at my parents.

I refuse to fly 4 family members for only a two day affair.

lI don't think it matters who runs California--D's or R's--because the state has been in denial for the past forty years, starting with Proposition 13 and all the other constitutional amendments that hamstring the Legislature. You can't be a high service state (which California has pretty much always been and voters have always supported) and not be a high tax state (which voters have sometimes supported). In short, you can't pass constitutional amendments that say "spend" and then not pass constitutional amendments to pay for the spending without having to make massive adjustments somewhere along the way. California has pretty much always led the nation in pipe dream finances.

a friend who lived there for a little while has this shirt:

i liked Austin and Houston surprised me on how much i liked it. Lockheart for the food is great too

Must be a real chill bra with his statement t shirt.

Texas is bad ass. And most people that go into a situation with a predisposed idea of liking\not liking it probably won't change their mind.

There is something for pretty much everyone, somewhere in Texas.

My wife wants to move to Charlotte NC or Texas if we have another kid, but we are both up there in age so it would be a miracle. She likes Texas because it is warm year round and my job and her business we can afford to fly home if we need to. She does not want to live in California. My brother could give me a job a 200k a year (he had bugged me for 10 years to work with him) if I want it but I don't like to do nepotism. I rather work for my position than handed to me from my younger brother.

Charlotte's the bomb. Love the weather. Most bang for the buck. 2 hours to the mountains, 3 hours to the beach.

California will do the same thing Detroit did which is to raise taxes even more on those who haven't left yet. I have no sympathy for a state that votes democrat, they are getting exactly what they voted for.

Also I'm already at around 1000 feet in elevation. I'm sure it would be more impressive from a little further south.

I believe somewhere out there is Mount Washington, but I'm no good at remembering mountains. Many here can pick them out of a lineup.
