If this were the old days under Bobby, Johnson would join the likes of Fick, Boone, Wickman, Kolb, and Sanders as short term Braves. His temper is ridiculous. Wren screwed up resigning him.

Why does everything have to be someones fault, or someones screwup? The Braves expect Johnson to act like an adult, but they can't control him physically right?

Johnson has been the best throw in ever, just needs some self control.

They didnt really "re-sign him" per say.

They had him under control for 3 more years after this year, and basically gave him an option year for 2018.

Nothing wrong with CJ, better than being a pussy and saying nothing.

Tell me what is right about giving away two at bats at the expense of one. The guy is wound way to tight. What he did tonight was childish and let his team down. Needs to sit the rest of the weekend.

Didn't see or hear what happened. I was at the opera (no sh*t).

I wouldn't have extended Johnson for what we'll be paying him and that may just be me, but guys like him are easily replaceable.

He apologized to the team after the game. Give it a rest.

So as long as he keeps apologizing (this is the 2nd known occupance plus acting like an idiot on the field numerous times), then all is good?

How so? Because of the fluke year he had last season? The guy is terrible.

Because he's a line drive machine and was runner up for the batting title last year?

He's flawed, but not without his charms. We could use a little fire around here. Team is too buttoned down. Might be a contributing factor to playoff failure. Let CJ get the red ass a little. Won't hurt.

No wonder Fredi/Laird removed him:

Mark Bowman ‏@mlbbowman 1m
Before hitting tonight's game-winner, Laird was hit by a piece of the bat Johnson shattered during his fit of rage

Edit, I was joking using Fredi/Laird but it seems they both were hit. Bowman in the wrap up states: "As they stood at the top of the dugout stairs, Laird and Gonzalez were both hit by pieces of a bat that Johnson shattered after striking out to begin the second inning. Fortunately, Laird got down the stairs before an irate Gonzalez, who immediately pulled Johnson and replaced him at third base with Ramiro Pena."

We all know Smoltz is the greatest throw in ever. I wouldn't call Johnson terrible though. He's terrible defensively, and best utilized as a platoon player, but if we had a decent lineup up to this point (like we should) we could easily hide him.

I don't really approve of his actions but the way he manned up to it and accepted responsibility and acknowledged that he was being an idiot, I'm ok with it. He will learn from this and become a better ball player and team mate. After getting that big contract he seems to be putting too much pressure on himself. That may be why he's not the same player he was last year. Maybe this will force him to take it a little easier and his production will go up.

Exactly right on Smoltz. Terrible seems about right though. Terrible defense, terrible approach at the plate(never walks and K's a ton for someone with zero power), like I said no power, no speed. We need to find someone that can actually give us at least one of the 5 baseball tools at 3B instead of a guy who can hit a few bloops every now and then. Can't wait for the "but he's a good contact hitter" crowd. I love that line.

It's not the first time he's had a meltdown and it won't be the last. If he didn't learn from the others then why will he learn from this one?

You're not wrong. But, if the guys who should be hitting were hitting then Johnson wouldn't be a problem. He's the least of our worries.

Much ado about nothing. He has a lot of passion for the game and it gets away from him at times. Its Fredi's job to keep him in line, and he's doing so. If the Braves thought it was a serious problem that would affect the team, they wouldn't have bought out his arby yrs.

How did FW screw up by signing him? He's a short term gap until some of our farm hands show they have developed and can handle big league ball. It's not like he is an unmovable player with a horrid contract like BJ and Uggla.
