6-6 is starting to look likely. Years and years of letting top-notch linemen and receivers get away from you will get you this result. We'll see how they respond next week.

I'm certainly not looking past you guys next week, especially in the road. We let a backup QB in a weak offense torch our secondary in the first half today. Still plenty of talent on your team.

I think you guys finish 8-4 in the regular season. Honestly, every game remaining on your schedule is winnable.
 
Prior to the season, I thought it might set up this way. Georgia would lose to Ole Miss, beat Tennessee, but then lose to Florida again, and Tennessee would beat Alabama and win the East. Of course, now Alabama looks just about unbeatable, and A&M has turned out to be really good, so it could be that Tennessee loses to its two western opponents and Florida squeaks in by running the table for the rest of its conference schedule.

I don't think, keyword, think, Georgia will get blown out by Tennessee, but they're just not playing at the level to beat a good FBS team right now. Six dropped passes today. Eason has talent, but he's still learning and he got his cage rattled for the first time today. When you're in that environment, your receivers have to help you out. Instead we dropped two touchdown passes. Chubb sprained an ankle. Even when he's in there healthy, he's ineffective now because the line is awful. We have no kicking game. On the defense, we're young and thin on the defensive line. Linebackers have been underwhelming. Because we can't get any pass rush, that's exposing problems with our secondary.

In hindsight, I'm very surprised we beat North Carolina. Luckily, they only ran their top two backs 16 times that game. We had a couple big calls go our way, and the vast majority of Chubb's yards that game came after contact.

All that said, I'd be delighted with 8-4 at this point. Main thing I want to see is us get better every week from here on and build for the future. :JSIDK:
 
I think Florida will have a tough time running the tabe in the SEC (which they basically have to do now). LSU can obviously play with anyone and Arkansas on the road is very tough as well. Not to mention, they still have to play their remaining SEC East schedule. I think they lose at least 2 more SEC games.

Problem is that every game left on the schedule is losable too. Georgia has completely mailed in two games this year and I don't see that getting better as losses mount and the season becomes more of a bust.

Honestly, I expect Tenn to beat UGA by at least two touchdowns.

Georgia isn't playing well enough to beat a good FCS school right now.

Im seeing lots of guys being set up to fail right now. There's talent on the roster. Lots of it. But the coaching staff doesn't have a clue how to use it. It's worse on defense. Smart seems incapable of even getting these guys on the same page, much less figure out how to take advantage of the talent that's there.

The more I see of Smart the more I'm convinced it was Saban making him look good. I hope he can turn it around because he doesn't seem to have a clue what he's doing.

Yeah I agree. It's a bad move for sure. Who are they going to get to replace him who will get better results?

That's the problem people always seem to overlook. When you fire a Miles or a Richt you have probably a 2 to 5% chance of getting someone as good or better. The vast majority of the time you get someone worse.
 
Louisiana is loaded with talent and LSU has a pretty good handle on it. His big downfall was not having a quarterback in the last several years, yet they were almost always in contention for a championship.

It's still the SEC. Wasn't Jimbo practically signed sealed and delivered until they decided to keep Les Miles at the end of last year?

could be Herman. Petrino would go to USC I imagine.

The problem is that they have consistently under achieved over the past few years. Les is kinda of an idiot that can recruit (anyone can at LSU). If they are smart, they will find someone that easily replaces him.

Maybe I am biased, but I don't get the fascination with the SEC. Great college football programs for sure, but you can literally go to any region of the country and find great programs. I suppose Jimbo could/would leave FSU especially after their beat down at the hands of Louisville, but I think as a coach you will find more success at FSU than LSU.
