Confirmation Bias, Privilege, Media Manipulation, and a QB

I mean... of course he CAN... but it doesn't look good. It never looks good when you're in everyone's face all the time when you're dominating, and nowhere to be found when you lose.

Tom Brady would have sat there and answered every question. Is he not competitive? Manning too... I am aware that others are babies, but if Cam wants to be the face of the league, he needs to man up.

But like tapate said, it's no big deal. Only reason we're talking about it is because the Panther fan brought it up

No one is treating Cam unfairly in this situation. QB wins he gets the glory (regardless of color), when he doesn't... he gets the criticism (regardless of color). How he handles said criticism can be criticized too....(regardless of color).

And when the Falcons beat the Panthers the falcons hammed it up too. Cam wasn't petulant about it. It's part of the game. Again the "negative" thing about him was walking out of a presser.

That deserves racist **** like this said about him?

DOn't pretend Romanowski called him boy because he was immature. BIll is a resounding jackass and has been accused of being a racist prick in the past as well. But I'm sure he's a good guy.

Don't see how you can compare this to Belichick or Popovich. Both have the same demeanor pretty much all the time media or no media.

Just makes Cam look like a sore loser when he's happily dancing his way to the Superbowl with some arrogance (and he deserved some for being MVP) but then loses like that in a bad way. He had a bad attitude throughout the game.

I'm a fan of his talent and hope he comes back.

But people comparing Cam and Peyton, Cam is not even a quarter of what Peyton has been his career. It took Cam years to become this good, whereas Peyton has been elite nearly his entire career.

Who's comparing the 2? Peyton is obviously a better QB in his career. Only comparison made by me is they're both sore losers.

So because Peyton is a better QB he should be allowed to storm off the field? DAFUQ?

I don't remember the incident in question with Peyton, nor do I really care.

Frankly I don't really care about Cam storming out of the presser. I was watching it live on NFL Network and his answers were just as bad as Marshawn Lynch's. So it's not like the presser was going good anyways.

People are making a big deal out of this.

My reasons for disliking Cam are he's the QB of a division rival, and I liked seeing his youthful attitude towards the game get shutdown in the biggest game of all.

Didn't like how he acted throughout the game, but it's a game and I'm not going to lose sleep over it.

My whole point being, Peyton is a Top 3 QB of all time. He's never been a showman, and he's like Duncan. Old guys just still doing their job effectively while being quiet. If anything he's earned a mulligan. Cam has been really good for a short time, but his ego makes it seem like he's been atop the NFL for a long time. I was glad he was humbled during the Super Bowl. Wont' root for him because he's a division rival, but I do appreciate his talent and hope he can reach his potential. Cam has a ways to go before he can reach the level McNabb did.

Yup just quite Peyton

Peyton is everybit as much of a competitor as Cam. Maybe he doesn't dance or show off. But he cares every bit as much of that.

I don't see how getting intense and angry is the same as dancing all over the field and begging for attention.

Again, don't care that Cam has fun... but don't be a little bitch when you get your butt whooped

Our fearless leader suggested Peyton is "quiet" he's not. The QBs who're quiet usually are not good. Peyton is a leader who has to be strong and demonstrative. If he wasn't he would get walked all over.

Where did I say Peyton isn't a competitor like Cam or vice versa?

I said throughout his career he's been relatively quiet in terms of he doesn't showboat, just keeps it quiet and on the field. The political answer he gave about his potential retirement is similar to the way he's talk to the media his entire career. You can find any image of a QB yelling or being intense during the game.

I'm not a fan of Cam's showboating, nor do I really care about it either. It isn't an issue with me, just people wanting to make an issue about it. I am however glad he was humbled by Denver on Sunday.

Again, I watched Cam's post-game presser that he walked out on. I didn't care for it, but his answers before leaving were almost like Marshawn Lynch's. I don't really agree with the NFL forcing players to talk to the media.

You're really not reading context.

Peyton is quiet in the sense that you won't find him showboating, trash talking, or anything like that in front of the cameras. That's why most people respect him.

Has Peyton ever had a Rodgers title belt moment, Cam dabbing thing?

He's obviously a competitor, just as the other thousand players in the league are. But I don't ever recall Peyton doing the showmanship Cam does.

Again, I don't care in the long run about Cam walking out in the middle of a presser.

Exactly.

If Carolina won, he'd be dabbing all around the field and on the trophy stage.

But again, I personally don't care about this small thing. Not gonna lose sleep over it. The media is making this a story because people always have to choose sides, it just can't be left alone.

Why does the showboating matter? People play the game a different way. Cam isn't the first to play it this way, he won't be the last. I recall you loving Mike Vick, he was a showboater of the highest order too.

I was also 12 years old when I defended Mike Vick. Once he got out of jail, he's been a bit more low key. Even his year in Philly where he went godmode he was acting low key compared to his Atlanta days when he was the chosen one.

But it doesn't change my opinion on it. I don't have to explain why "showboating" matters. I actually liked Chad Johnson's touchdown dances. T.O.'s were a bit more personal in who they were intended for. Chad Johnson's were all fun. Showboating sure.

Why can't I just not like Cam's showboating because he's a division rival and I don't like him?

Showboating doesn't matter.

But with it will come expectations. and when you lose, own up to it like a man and get em the next time

Why must I have to explain and break it down for you like it's a science? This isn't politics homie. It's sports. Everyone has their own favorites and preferences.

Some people like Nadal because he's a fierce competitor. Some people don't like him because of his dirty gamesmanship tactics he pulls. He's still a winner. Some people like Federer because he's very professional on and off the court. People don't like him because they think he's too overly stuck up or think he's fake. People like Jordan because he was arguably the greatest competitor in professional basketball. A lot of people don't like him because they think he's arrogant and has a huge ego. People like Tiger Woods because of how fierce he was in his prime. People don't like him because of his infidelity. Doesn't change the fact he was an amazing golfer.

People don't like certain players for whatever reason. People thought Marshawn Lynch was faking his anxiety in not giving real answers. Lots of people defended him.

This isn't a right or wrong thing zeets. And if it is, people have too much time on their hands and have their priorities out of order. I've already said I don't care about Cam showboating, just not a fan of his flavor. But like sturg said, man up and own it when you lose.

Today I learned from Zeets, you either like showboating or don't.

So because I'm a fan of Chad Johnson's TD celebrations, I also have to be a fan of Terrell Owens' and Cam Newton's.

I can't pick out which players I like better. If I like one I have to like them all otherwise I'm a hypocrite.

I never really said that. Though it does set up a double standard if you love the style of play of one player but another who plays it basically the same way you don't like. Of course you can like how certain players do things. I don't care. It's your life.
