CONTEST: Guess who the Braves draft.

Since I know nothing about the players I am going to judge the picks based on whether their name sounds major league enough. Bssed on thst criteria I give the Cubs an F for their pick. No chance someone named Kyle Schwarber is a major leaguer.

Maybe, but that guy had a 16% walk rate, 10% strike out rate, with a 0.289 ISO this past year in a pitcher's park.
 
Hey, I projected Pentecost to the Jays. Hooray!!

Kodi Medeiros is about to go to Milwaukee though.
 
Would anyone like to place a wager on the Braves not taking anyone we've discussed but some soft tossing college pitcher?

I guess my scenario where the Braves missed out on Medeiros because of the Santana signing were way off base. Medeiros really flew up the boards the past couple of weeks.
 
I know it's all for television, but I really miss the old days when the picks went rapid fire. The first round took about an hour at most.

That's pretty much what I am expecting. They also target college arms with low mileage on their arms like Hursh and Hale. I can't remember the last time the Braves picked who they were projected to by the experts. Maybe Joey Devine.

I will be surprised if we don't. There will be at least a couple guys who will fall to us that would be great picks, but instead we will pick someone that could have been taken much later.
 
I wish this was like the NFL draft so I could see the reaction of a pitcher when they are taken by the Royals. Must be a look of complete terror.

As much as I loathe some picks they di a great job overall. I just wish we could trade picks so we could trade the first roumd for more late picks. At the least they have nailed both top 15 picks they have had and I was livid when they took Minor.
