I don't recall Heyward being projected to the Braves. Not that they didn't want him but I don't think most thought he would last that long. I wa s swinging from his nuts when he was still a junior and I never thought he would make it past the marlins.

Cole Tucker to the Pirates. That's another high school bat the Braves were in on. Hoping for Chavis to fall.

The way its unfolding so far, it looks like we might get a top high school arm. Reid-Foley, Griffin, Adams, Ortiz still on the board.

I believe that several mocks had us taking him. He was reputed to be a difficult sign and that he may sign with Atlanta. I don't know if that was true or not, but I believe that was the logic of the people at the various mocks that had him falling to us. There was this thing about the Braves focusing heavily on Georgia (and they did for much of the Roy Clark era) and I think that contributed to the notion that Heyward would end up a Brave as well.

I think their top choices based on what I was reading were Stephen Adams and Michael Chavis.

Btw we would have had the #26 pick if we had not signed Santana. Would have been nice to pick Chavis there.

Of course, at our pick #26, had we not given it up for Santana, the Red Sox take Chavis. Damnit. I hate giving up first round draft picks.

Watching the contest. Both nsacpi and depley are out (Medeiros and Chavis),and no one has the Pentecost tiebreaker (he went No. 11).

Just for laughs, here are the guesses on Pentecost: 3, 10, 13, 13, 16, 7, 12, 14, 10, 12, 12, 9.
