Cuomo

Honestly the sexual harassment allegations aren’t that bad. Nothing really physical and no retaliation. The nursing home stuff bothers me but there are a lot of governors guilty of manipulating COVID statistics for political purposes. I’ll go with looking into those things if we’re consistent. There were a lot of things done for political reasons.

The big issue for me is that he made advances on subordinates. When you make a move on a subordinate, the subordinate may or may not feel as if they have a choice. Imagine you're in financial difficulties and you think if you lose your job you'll lose everything or that if you get fired your career be over and ruin your life. Your boss makes a move on you. There's going to be extraordinary pressure to submit. If you consent, does your consent mean anything? Was it real or coerced?

Now look at it from the boss' point of view. You make a move on a subordinate who consents to sleep with you. Is that consent real or coerced? Does the person reciprocate your feelings or are they playing along to keep their job? From the boss' position it can be difficult to tell the difference. This shows the boss doesn't actually care if the consent is legitimate or coerced. At best this is creepy at worst it's rapey.

There are plenty of opportunities out there, you don't have to make advances on your subordinates. When you do, you need to lose your job. I don't care if you're a night janitor or the President of the United States.

Sexual harassment, like rape, is often more about power than sex. Cuomo operationalized sexual banter in the office as a way of asserting his power and dominance over other people. The situation with Charlotte Bennett went beyond that, however.

I’m not a New Yorker so ultimately they’ll decide. My perspective is this though. I reached adulthood during the Lewinski scandal. Honestly I liked Clinton a lot and Inremember being very angry at the Republicans At that point I decided I’d never make decisions based on sex scandals unless there was blatant criminality and I don’t mean me too era concepts of criminality. I never went there with Trump, and I didn’t go there with Kavanaugh. I was angry about Al Frankenstein, and I remember who those Democrats were that stirred that up.

It’s just not on my priorities list. It’s been the weakness of a lot of great men who have made great contributions. I have no desire to take people down over sex.

Cuomo's behavior is not that unusual. Wrong but sadly not unusual. I once had a boss who needed to know about everyone's sex life. He asked me about mine. And I told him "probably better than yours." We both laughed and that was it. But I don't think it's ok to have that kind of office banter. And obviously when it comes to men in positions of power asking female subordinates, it is especially problematic.

But the situation with Charlotte Bennett went beyond that. He essentially asked her to sleep with him. That crosses some lines that we as a society should try to draw as clearly as possible. If Cuomo's (hoped for) defenestration serves the purpose of alerting a few other similarly predatory bosses that they need to cut this out, it will have been worth it.

As long as there is no direct threat I’m ok with the boss sleeping with their subordinates. Implying they want to isn’t even on my radar.

We disagree there. Sleeping with a subordinate is so problematic at so many levels, it ought to be a fireable offense in any organization.

This is where I'm at. Even if the relationship is absolutely consensual, it presents soooooo many problems and really reveals stuff about the boss' character.

Maybe the boss is such a delusional narrcacist that he considered sleeping with him to be a bonus for his employee.

What if they sign a release form of some sort? Like a consent? What then?

The issue with the power dynamic still exists. If someone thinks there will be consequences if they spurn their boss’s advances, they’d likely also believe there would be consequences if they refused to sign a release.

100% joking

The GOP would NEVER do to one of their Governors what the Dems are in the process of doing to Cuomo.

I love how the #metoo movement was destroyed by the left's inability to meet the insane stupid standard.

First Biden, now Cuomo. Amazing how many communists support rapists
