Honestly the sexual harassment allegations aren’t that bad. Nothing really physical and no retaliation. The nursing home stuff bothers me but there are a lot of governors guilty of manipulating COVID statistics for political purposes. I’ll go with looking into those things if we’re consistent. There were a lot of things done for political reasons.
The big issue for me is that he made advances on subordinates. When you make a move on a subordinate, the subordinate may or may not feel as if they have a choice. Imagine you're in financial difficulties and you think if you lose your job you'll lose everything or that if you get fired your career be over and ruin your life. Your boss makes a move on you. There's going to be extraordinary pressure to submit. If you consent, does your consent mean anything? Was it real or coerced?
Now look at it from the boss' point of view. You make a move on a subordinate who consents to sleep with you. Is that consent real or coerced? Does the person reciprocate your feelings or are they playing along to keep their job? From the boss' position it can be difficult to tell the difference. This shows the boss doesn't actually care if the consent is legitimate or coerced. At best this is creepy at worst it's rapey.
There are plenty of opportunities out there, you don't have to make advances on your subordinates. When you do, you need to lose your job. I don't care if you're a night janitor or the President of the United States.
