Democratic National Convention

You can play the bad soundbite game for everyone in politics.

That's because they're all multiplicitous (is that the 3 or more version of duplicitous?) self serving, back stabbing, money and power grubbing aholes, some maybe more than others, but they're all bitten IMO and they'll all become zombies sooner or later, then we'd better watch out.

Sanders is a pathetic old coot - an absolutely spineless shill.

He had his chance to stand for something, and even those who didn't agree would have had to admit he stood rather than caved in to Hilldog. Oh well, add him in with the rest of them.

Bernie gave a good effort to try to "unify" the party. Half of the stuff he was bemoaning, Hillary Clinton is part of the problem, but aside from that I think they'll have a better week from here on out.

It's not, and this line of attack on Trump won't work. Trump is just reflecting the general feel folks have in this country right now.

Totally agree. I think Trump is legit a pile of orange dookie, but his fear-mongering doesn't arise ex nihilo: its success is predicated on trading off the very real fears, anxieties, and concerns of real citizens. It'd be hard for me to disagree more with his "solutions" (such as they've ever been elaborated), but that doesn't mean the problems are imaginary.

I've said it before, but I'll reiterate: this "America Is Already Great" erasure by Clinton and her DNC is neither a good look for the party nor a sound strategy for success. Even if Clinton ultimately attains the presidency, ignoring the very real problems within the US is a recipe for down-ballot failure, and moreover tactically flawed, even if Trump's unique buffoonery ends up making it appear to work. Aspirational politics is one thing; pretending grave deficits in America's greatness don't exist is, on the other hand (and as I've said previously), political gaslighting.

Whatever you think of Sanders' capitulation, his speech tonight was key in that regard: forcing a focus on tackling problems, as opposed to dismissing their very existence.

Yea, much of the time I was thinking, "He knows he's talking about Clinton, right?" Presumably he thinks publicly daring her to adopt those positions will work?

He would have to be incredibly naive to think she would ever seriously advance the things he speaks most passionately about.

I can't believe 57 thinks Obama planned the DWS firing at this point in time. This wikileaks non-sense is the last this Obama would want.

I don't think he planned it this way, do think it possible this might have been the last straw though.
Nothing happens in (D) without POTUS approval or initiative

This is what I mean when I say I hope I'm still alive in 10 years to read an historical account of the past 12 months and the next 4

Taking them at their word, she already has

If you (royal you) have been listening, not just during the campaign but both of their careers, they have shared the same goals all along

How they get there --- that has been the other story

Thought Sanders spelled that out crystal clear last night.

As they both have during debates

If like I said you (royal you) have been listening to what they say rather than what CNN or Fox says they say

"Big Mac-Small Fries and a Diet Coke. And get yourself something too "

That equates to a spineless shill.

Admitting defeat, being gracious in defeat and moving on is the total opposite of , " an absolutely spineless shill "

Lets get to the meat of the night.

I thought Sarah Silverman had the best dress and hair of the night
What was that white thing that Eva Longoria wore?
Michelle didn't show enough biceps and triceps
Elizabeth Warren looked sick because I thought she yelled all the time. Her pants suit was meh but, she did wear Palinesque spike heels for anyone looking close

Defeat? Yeah, the same way the White Sox defeated the Reds in 1919.

Get a new schtick.

I thought "get yourself something too" was clever

Guess you didn't get it
........

"Get a new schtick."

All that history will remember about conservatism is that it was movement dedicated to whining about bathrooms.
