I'm not a huge fan of Dickerson, but he would obviously be an upgrade to our roster. Would guess the Rays feel like they'll be able to trade him (or already have a trade in hand) if they are designating him.

Rays trade Odorizzi a couple hours after dropping Dickerson to make room for Cron. Seems like an odd series of moves.

Average or better defender in LF. Average bat. Can the Braves afford $6M?

He would upgrade the roster, but I wouldn’t give up anything of any value for him.

Wonder just how bad his average defense really is. 1/3 of those games last year were as a DH. Granted they've got Mallex, but you still have to wonder how much they were "hiding" him.

Would still love to take a shot at him as long as the cost is reasonable since he'd allow you to game Acuna's clock as long as you wanted, but I can't imagine AA intends to add another bat-only guy and a repeat of Markakis/Kemp flanking Ender for long at all.

We would have to trade for him.. isn't the waiver system the AL gets the first crack.. I wouldn't think he would make it past all those teams..

When a team DFAs a player they have 10 days to place him on waivers, trade him, or put him back on the roster.

I don’t think they have placed him on waivers yet, so they can trade him to whomever they want. Or they could just put him back on the roster in place of Odorizzi.

The $6M Dickerson is owed probably lines up with what the Braves can afford. He makes some sense if he can be had for a very little prospect capital.

ETA: I didn’t realize he bats LHed. Maybe he isn’t quite the fit I thought he was.
