DOB: Braves offseason about to get a lot busier. - Gamel released.

If the braves don't get Hudson to come back I can see then talking to JJ. I still think they will call the Brewers about Loshe aswell though. I think Wren will be adding 2 SPs this offseason (and I am including Hudson being a "new" SP).

As for Chavez I think he would be a good add to the bench. I think he got 3 million last year from the D-Backs. Not sure the Braves would go that high but they could go 2-2.5 million without much problem. Letting Reed go was telling IMO. They are going to add someone to the bench that is not in the org currently.

We arent adding 2.

If we add Hudson, rotation is set.

If not, maybe 1 SP, thats it.

J/K with you but wouldnt you rather have Jimenez or Santana for next 4 years than worry about Hudson going AWOL in 2014? Garza is available too but IMO he may be too spacey for Braves clubhouse.

Wouldnt mind Garza at all actually.

Santana would cost a pick.

With Wood in reserve, I don't see us adding more than one starter.

I'd like to see a rotation of JJ, Minor, Medlen, Teheran and Beachy

In addition to Wood we have a lot of starting pitching options that are nearly ready for the majors: Hale, Martin, Gilmartin, Northcraft, Schlosser, Thomas, Graham.

I'd be interested in Josh Johnson if it wasn't for the injuries. Not a fan of Garza. Santana is more of a two or three in the rotation. Braves already have those. I'd stay away from free agency in regards to starting pitching this year.

Its your opinion. I disagree.

Its fact.

We arent adding two with Hudson.

Between Minor, Julio, Meds, Beachy, Wood/Hale, we arent adding two more on top of that.

Barring trades, injuries, etc.

Yes we have a lot of SP in the waiting but Good SP's wins WS. I don't see that group taking us to a WS and winning it.

Its not fact. We need good SP's. We don't have a rotation that will win a WS. You guys are worring about 2B when the problem is in the rotation.

Boston just won the WS with a rotation of Lester, Lackey, Bucholtz and Peavy.

Outside of Lester, im not sure any of them are ace-quality.

We need one or two of them to take a step forward. We would start out with six starting pitchers who are not far from being elite. Obviously some of them have more upside potential. But it is a pretty good group. And it doesn't compare unfavorably with Lester, Lackey, Peavy and Buchholz

And they still have a better rotation then we do IMO.

I am not asking for ACE-quality SP's.

Not by much.

As ncaspi said, we just need Minor or Julio, ideally both to develop into that ace.

Any short term deal for a pitcher with upside is going to have some gamble in it. Just a fact of the market.

Wren is making bold moves by letting RJ go, more than likely low balling Hudson, and letting make Mac walk. I could see him making a big deal for an impact player.
