DOB: Braves offseason about to get a lot busier. - Gamel released.

If we can get Kelly Johnson, Rajai Davis and a veteran reliever(Latroy Hawkins) for less than 8 mil. between all three that to me would be a huge victory in my book. While none are great players they are veterans who not only add depth but versatility. It's not like your signing these guys long term either and they are proven players with decent track records.

I think Wren has to bring in:

1 MLB quality 2B

1 starting pitcher (low balling Huddy means he has other options in mind)

1 LHed bench bat (Chavez would be superb)

1 backup CFer (Schafer should be in AAA)

1 RHed bench bat (could still be Reed)

The rotation would be: Minor, Teheran, Medlen, FA/trade, Wood/Beachy. One of Wood or Beachy in the BP to limit innings.

Bench would be: Laird, Pena, RHed bat, LHed bat, internal guy. One of those bats should be able to play CF.

CAN Schafer be sent to AAA? Isn't that how Houston lost him?

He is out of options. Pena is out of options. Pastornicky and Constanza have one left. Often the question of options is decisive when it comes to making the last cut or two in spring training. They guys with options get sent down because you can keep them within the organization.

If we can get Kelly Johnson,

I don't think anyone should be opposed to bringing in kj on the cheap. He can play lf or 2b. Maybe 3b in a pinch. He'sgood insurance in case Tommy falters.

Bottom scroll on Hot Stove says Uggla and starting pitcher are needs of Braves.

Nothing new there. Question is just how big is that need for a starter.

That ought to put an end to those posters, who think the rotation is "set" with Minor/Medlen/Teheran/Beachy/Wood.

I think the plan all along has been for Wood to be the swingman/sixth starter/whatever you want to call it.

Which means an additional starting pitcher needs to be acquired. Could be Hudson, though that is looking less likely. Could be Josh Johnson. Could be someone else.

What's new with Hudson? I thought the Braves very much wanted him back and he only want's to play for the Braves?

Read Mark Bradley's article in todays AJC. Wonder what Wren did to piss Bradley off. I dont think I have ever read a local print writer be so directly critical of his local team.

Request once more: guys, if you're going to reference something that you read, include the link.

This is about what most of us already foresee at this point.

I was 7 years old before I ever heard a radio and 12 before I saw a TV. Well over 60 before the internet came along. I have enough trouble reading much less linking so spend a moment and look it up. Google AJC Sports. Ive learned that much and I dont have an I phone so dont bother calling.

Copying & pasting isn't that complex of an operation.
