DOB: Braves offseason about to get a lot busier. - Gamel released.

I like the Infante signing. He has characteristics that make me think he will age well. Good athlete (was a shortstop when he first came up) and started his major league career very young (age 20). Plus he has always struck me as a player who hits well in key situations. He doesn't give away at bats.

The cost for Price?

Braves learned the cost would likely include Alex Wood, Christian Bethancourt and at least two other top prospects.

Samardzija?

That interest quickly died when the Cubs indicated they would be looking for a return package that included either Jason Heyward or Justin Upton.

per Bowman's article. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article/atl/atlanta-braves-complete-search-for-rotation-depth-with-gavin-floyd-signing?ymd=20131217&content_id=66040150&vkey=news_atl

He also said a deal for Sale would be similar to what the Rays were asking for Price. I doubt the validity on that one, because I would do that deal.

The Rays demands doesn't surprise me. That's about what I would ask for.

As for the Cubs..............................BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Hang on a second....

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Yeah, I gotta be honest...I'd trade Bethancourt, Wood, Sims and another prospect for Sale.

Yeah that's my reaction as well. How can the Cubs have the balls to want more than what the Rays would want for Price?

I would probably trade Wood, Bethancourt and 2 prospects as long as Sims, Peraza, Hursh, LaStella or Cabrera aren't one of those 2. La Stella would be the guy the ERays would want is my guess, underrated prospects are a heck of a target for them.

What I would love to do is if we can find a taker for Uggla and we save half his salary, then trade Wood, Bethancourt, La Stella, Graham, Gilmartin, and someone else for Price and Zobrist.

So our 2014 Braves would be WS built.

RF - Heyward

2B - Zobrist

1B - Freeman

LF - Justin

3B - Johnson

C - Gattis

CF -Bossman

SS - Simmons

Rotation

Price

Medlen

Minor

Julio

Beachy

Would be sick if it could happen.

Given his contract, Sale is the one whose price looked somewhat reasonable. Price and Samarzidja are easy passes if the reported price tags are true.

I have a feeling the price on Smardijza will come down once the Cubs realize he's not going to re-sign there. They will try to get the best deal possible.

LMAO at that deal for JS.

I'd do that deal for Price if he'd ink and extension.

Sale, i'd do Wood/CB, and it would depend who the other 2 prospects are.

His contract is so good, i'd consider putting anyone else not named Sims in there.

bowman says Braves were out of Price when they asked for "Sim"

Could be Simmons or Sims.

But Sims AND Wood for Price is steep.

Yeah, I gotta be honest...I'd trade Bethancourt, Wood, Sims and another prospect for Sale.

Wren should be fired if wouldn't do that trade.

Now with that in mind, I find it hard to believe the Sox aren't asking for one of Heyward, Freeman or Simmons plus prospects.

Agreed he should be fired if that package would have gotten Sale. I'd do that deal for Price to. If you're actually gonna go for it then do it.

My only reservation with it is Infante's age. He's turning 32 in a week. We all know how quickly that drop off can happen after what has happened with Uggla.

You're talking about a legitimate ace. Maybe a guy who could be comparable to Kershaw if he pitched for the Dodgers instead of Chicago. Yeah... he's been that good at age 24. His only negative is that he gives up a lot of homeruns in a ballpark that is known as an easy park for hitters to hit homeruns. A guy who is under team control through 2019 at an extremely reasonable price. To me this guy might be one of the last guys in baseball I would trade.

Agreed. And not wanting to include Sims makes no sense. Bc Sale is everything that you would want him to be. And already signed long term at a very cheap rate.

Yeah I would do that trade for Sale. Wood, CB, and any 2 prospects they want. Not sure I would do it for Price. Price will probably make 50 million over the next 3 years while Wood will make less than 2 million. Good chance Wood is more valuable over that time even if Price is the better pitcher.
