I'm not sure what your point is. I am opposed to SALT deductions. In general, I think it is appropriate that there are these federal fiscal transfers from wealthier states to less wealthy states. Increasing the SALT deductions goes against that and is bad policy on various other grounds. Remember I'm the guy who thinks we need to both raise taxes and reduce spending to put our fiscal house in order. Plus funding the IRS to do its job.
 
eh...let's not be children...there is a lot of tax evasion in this country and a more muscular IRS would lead to a lot more revenues being collected

So were they doing their job or not? More agent and more funding doesn’t mean more productivity with a government entity.

It’s a yes or no.

And if the govt just told you what you owed instead of us having to decipher it and in turn funding a giant bloated department, we could might agree

I’m actually for tax fraud at the rate our government funds garbage programs and special interests. It’s absurd. People should be able to opt out of this garbage.

consistent with my point that some of the folks around here who profess to care about the deficit have other priorities

interestingly enough there is a big intersection between that group and those who claim to want law and order but are ok with certain kinds of illegal behavior

No matter what you believe about whether the government *should* provide Medicaid to any given group, this is insanely dishonest. I’m actually perfectly happy with a work requirement for able-bodied people, but employer-sponsored insurance is not viable for small businesses and most corporations will not provide it to part-timers or it’s too expensive for employees to purchase.

maybe someone could explain to Elon that this is how a staffing system works...my brother was chief-of-staff for a member of Congress...the staff reads these bills...the staff receives detailed briefings on the bills...their job in turn is to keep the boss up to speed...every principal in every organization relies on staff for briefings and memoranda that summarize these thangs
