It’s a shame how much social capital he torched trying to solve the rot in our government (the real problem).
The cowards in Congress left him high and dry.
Meh, I think Musk whole-heartedly embraced the same style over substance, culture war savior nonsense that has defined the second Trump term. I applaud some of the moves like reducing the apathy toward reviewing expense justifications and wasteful program licenses, but those don’t sell X Premium subscriptions so we got to hear about the billions in savings from stopping fraud the left was using as a slush fund.

Agree to disagree.... he accidently fired quite a few essential people that they had to scramble to hire back because his team didn't do simple research... he has consistently lied about how much DOGE has saved... most estimates are that DOGE has saved just a tiny fraction of his claims... blanket use of the term "fraud" when no actual legal fraud has been committed... I don't see it. Most of his claims and evidence are basically just "trust me bro." And forgive me, I don't just blindly trust the richest man in the world.

This is fair critique. I don’t think a universe exists where Doge wouldn’t have been messy. It was indeed a microcosm that happens whenever there are attempts to clawback public spending.
I’m more optimistic that the well wasn’t poisoned rather new battle lines were drawn. Half the country really wants spending cuts.

The issue is no one wants to cut thespending that needs to be cut if that's your concern.
People point to a million here a million there and that's fine. If you save 10 billion that sounds like a lot, but in the scheme of the whole federal budget that's silly. Then when you talk about these cuts then shows up talking up the F-47 which is rumored to be more expensive than the F-22 (150M adjusted for inflation) so you're going to spend billions on the military while taking billiosn from the people isn't a trade most would be happy with.
Especially poor optics are when you talk about cutting funding for NOAA then the next week deadly tornadoes destroy Trumpland.
