DOGE

People point to a million here a million there and that's fine. If you save 10 billion that sounds like a lot, but in the scheme of the whole federal budget that's silly.
$10b is a substantial amount of money. The fact that it can be conceived as “silly” is a symptom of the problem. No one who is serious about budgeting can have this mindset because it has a snowball effect.

I work for a company who is now in its 11th year.... we are on track to earn $1B in revenue for the first time. The company is ecstatic and and it is a major milestone. 1500 employees, 15,000 corporate customers... 40 million consumers, etc.

then you read about how the federal government will just piss away $30b on some climate analysis in Singapore on spiders and it gets pretty demoralizing thinking about all the hard work the private sector does compared to the fed

It's silly because taking 10B from one pot and moving it to another isn't saving anything.

If I take spend 500 dollars in cash for a switch 2 or charge it ot my debit card there's no difference. It's still spending 500 cash.

Congratulations to DOGE for driving an unemployment spike, I guess.

Lower government employment has been one of the better aspects of this term.

Even better part, reduced employment of foreign born workers while citizen employment increases.

Wouldn’t we be hoping for those displaced government employees to be in the private sector as soon as possible? Seems like a pretty meh thing to celebrate if we haven’t seen any decrease in spending yet.

We have seen a large incrase in private sector employment - I suspect a portion of that were recently terminated governemnt workers.

So, about all that obvious and blatant fraud we’re saving America from, are we just calling it good or something? Like the people running millions in Social Security or Medicare fraud just got asked to stop nicely?
