Cool - can those people come and not the poor uneducated criminals?
Because his qualifications are at worst equal to most of the people we put in charge of doing this venture in the first place? We wanted to audit the government and we used Elon Musk and a team of teenage coders who know nothing about the things their code was telling them.

I'm mad that DOGE was a generational opportunity to meaningfully bring us spending cuts and it was a total failure, yes

…what am I wrong about here? Would we not have perhaps been better off hiring a bunch of people who knew how to make something more efficient and have *them* suggest cuts instead of having Elon Musk tell us Big Balls saved the taxpayers $11,000,000,000,000 by ending an employer survey and firing a bunch of people that we actually needed but had a job that “sounded” woke when they hit Ctrl-F on their algorithm?
It’s absolutely good that they did this, but otherwise lol.
Contrary to what you believe, I’m not blindly pro-government work. I’ve consistently agreed with the deficit-minded folks that we need to reduce wasteful employment in the government and don’t think it’s a societal benefit to waste money simply because some jobs will be lost. Where I depart from the right is where I draw that particular line. In this case, I would say an inter-agency task force aimlessly wandering the streets of Washington, DC waiting for a drunk girl to be sick is wasteful spending and would have no problems removing that job from the federal ledger. And as it turns out, these people would not lose their jobs, they’d just be able to spend their time investigating serious crimes instead of waiting for them to spontaneously appear in front of them.
