DRAFT IN PROGRESS THREAD ... What's past is preamble

Gonzalez will have to master the walking on water bit, but other than that you're probably on the mark.

Mother's name is Kelly. My theory about Irish genes might be correct. He had a very nice career at Georgia Tech, especially the senior year. Mostly played outfield this year. Some third in prior years. Braves drafted him as a second baseman. Could be a classic utility player.

3B/OF..he had a huge year and he was the NCAA active hitting leader also 3rd all time in Ga Tech history with 300+ hits.

I feel like something momentous just happened, and you me and 50 are the only ones aware of it. We just got a hispanic Leprechaun. Those are incredibly rare and have tremendous talismanic powers.

To everyone saying Maitan would've been the first pick, here's what Keith Law said --

Chris: Kevin Maitan would’ve been selected at what pick last night?

Klaw: Not very high. 16 years old, never faced any real competition. How do you compare that to Moniak or Rutherford?

And who said we weren't taking any hitters? J.B. Moss in the 7th. As long as J.B. doesn't stand for Jim Beam, we might have something. Another college senior.

Law probably didn't know who he was.

Law was the first to say we would sign Maitan about a year ago.

And has said that if he ran a team he would give Maitan's handler a call and offer him over $10 million.

He loves Maitan, but genuinely hates the international system and how much expectations people put on 16 year olds. It makes sense.

Nah man... the Braves never have to acquire a bat ever again because they might sign this 16 year old
