DRAFT IN PROGRESS THREAD ... What's past is preamble

I get the point you're trying to make. But you sound like a crazy person when you keep insinuating the Braves don't have enough pitching. They'll have to keep adding pitching as time goes on, but it's pretty impossible for the Braves to have more pitching than they currently do.

And we probably have more legit pitching prospects in our system right now than any in the history of baseball.

All I'm doing is looking at the actuarial outcomes for different kinds of pitchers at different levels and different ages. We do not have a surplus. Especially when you consider our starting position in the majors.

I think Teheran definitely goes now. Let's convince the Red Sox to give us Moncada to get the one extra pitcher to get them to the WS

#Braves Bridges: "There were bats targeted but you can’t control what happens in the draft. You take the best player available."

Sounds like what I expected, someone we hoped would fall to us didn't do so.

Someone please explain to me how a team that has the previous years #1 overall prospect in Swanson and is about to sign Maitan who would be the #1 pick in 2016 if he was eligible but we are somehow neglecting bats. When Maitan signs our top 3 prospects will be bats and we are a system loaded with pitching.

Plus there is much less attrition and uncertainty about the development path for hitting prospects.

Again, I get the point. You won't say that anyone has a 'surplus' until they actually have more than 5 good major league SP. That's fine. But you have to concede that in terms of pitching prospects, we're doing fine.

Anderson given a couple more weeks could have been ranked top 5 easily. So I'm gonna suck it up and just trust the scouts here. We will get offense from somewhere eventually but we can expect a big trade involving pitching for hitting this offseason.

I might be. I just don't see Anderson as a top 10 talent. He's a prototypical middle of the first round pick. The fact that he has injury concerns and most of his hype is based off a strong finish you don't know if he'll keep up takes him out of the top 10 for me.

Missing a very short time with an oblique issues is an injury concern? Dude has one of the easiest and most fluid deliveries I've ever seen. I don't know if you've even watched his film or read anything much about him

What's your argument though? I gave reasons why I think Anderson is actually a pretty solid pick at #3. Mid 90's fastball with two good off speed pitches and good control/command. You mention he has injury concerns, but I've read the opposite. He has a smooth and easy delivery, with deceptive but repeatable delivery.

Yah there are no injury concerns... Mid 90s and his frame is far from filled out with great control and a nasty 12-6 curve

What specifically about Anderson makes you say that?

His arsenal seems more middle of the rotation-ish to me. Multiple good pitches but nothing dominant. He's not got elite velocity, his breaking stuff is good but not Wainwright like.

There's a lot to like and a lot of reasons to think he'll be a solid pitcher. I don't see anything that jumps out as being the basis of reaching top of the rotation level.

They are talking about Senzel.

A list of the hitters that I think he might be referring to: Moniak and Senzel ahead of pick #3, Lux, Perez, Sanchez, Kieboom, Carlson and Trammel ahead of #40 and #44.

I think Wentz is the best one we got

That's not at all what I'm saying.

Elite velocity? He sat 94-97 his last start with multiple Braves brass in attendance. What do you want him to throw?

What do you mean by elite velocity? He doesn't throw 100 but just about no HS pitchers ever have. Pint does, but that is almost more reason for concern than excitement.

It's your opinion and that's fine, it just seems like you base it more on where he was projected to go. Mid-90s with potentially 3 plus pitches and good command is a potential future TOR starter to me.
