In a hypothetical, 61% of both Democrats and Republicans supported adding tariffs to TVs imported into the United States to “boost production of the American TV industry.” However, in an experiment in which half of the survey respondents were told that Donald Trump imposed these tariffs, 65% of Democrats said they would oppose the tariffs, while 70% of those who identified as Republicans said they would support them. On the other hand, if told that Joe Biden imposed these tariffs, then 57 percent of Democrats would support the tariffs—a 22-point swing relative to the scenario where Trump imposed them. Meanwhile, Republican support declined by 19 points (51%) relative to the scenario where Trump imposed the tariffs.

Lol worthy, and yet not surprising at all

Tell me you don't understand the stock market, without telling me you don't understand the stock market.

You realize it's already risen above 40k at least twice before, right? The stock market has been not been especially strong the last 6+ months and the jobs report and inflation concerns aren't helping things either. We are still facing very real recession concerns, which is part of the reason the Fed dropped rates.

Also, the stock market performed much better under Trump, even before adjusting for inflation.

Your friendly reminder that the *only* cause of inflation is deficit spending from the federal government. Nothing more. Nothing less. And neither party understands this

I don’t care what party it is- if the candidate vows to pass a law that the government bloat has to be cut down by 60% at the end of every 6 year term id pull that lever with a smile

1. Housing prices have declined in huge cities across the country

2. Why on earth would a MAGA guy not be happy about more affordable housing for low income/skill Americans?

1. Housing prices are increasing in the greater NY Metro area I believe

2. Housing is still not affordable to most and all we are going to see is middle and upper middle class wealth diminish while big corporations buy up discounted property. Heck, if things continue in this trend I may grab one although my preference is to buy north for a summer home.

Well you may be able to buy a Florida condo on the cheap if you want to do some expensive required maintenance (aka the reason prices are dropping per that article you shared)

It is interesting that a lot of the quoted price declines are from the market peak in 2022. Florida real estate had this tremendous appreciation from 2019 to 2022. It would be more informative to have the price change since 2019.

It isn't a problem that just started recently. Corporate profits as a percentage of national income and price markups have been on an upward trajectory for over 20 years now. This reflects the fact that many sectors of the economy have been allowed to become more concentrated and less competitive. Consumers have lost out. In the form of higher prices and in other ways as well.

How much gold could we find in this thread about fake job figures?

It doesn’t matter through. Just move on to the next thing they’re wrong about.
