Oh - People are losing construction jobs? What types of people?

Truckers are losing their licenses because they can't speak english?

Hmm......

I guess the question would be why aren't Americans getting those jobs? The construction still needs to happen, right? (Assuming the economy is still moving)

Love all the graphs about job losses and then you find out the job losses are all illegals.

What a great thing to highlight!

Because things don't happen overnight?

Is that what you were expecting to see?

You'll be glad to know that 26 will show this reshuffling of the economy to your liking.

I mean we are a year into this, if demand hasn't fallen, why aren't construction jobs recovering?

The good news about the data in 2025 is it perfectly aligns to the data of tariffs the world has tried over and over and over

What we have experienced is not new or unexpected. Nor are the promises of a golden age future

Got it - After a few months its conclusive. But again, I've always said at first you would all pump your chest out. It'll be a bit more quiet in 26 for sure. I'll be here intermittingly to collect some scalps :)

If demand isn't following, and Americans are desperate for jobs, we should be seeing continued declines in manufacturing and construction

Yes - The short term impact or dramatically cahnging the ecnomic structure of the country will not be great.

I'm not shocked by this.

Silence? Its just one month of data so not really a story but potentially a harbinger of things to come.

Also, construction usually tails off in winter months so an expansion in november is another good sign.

The monthly changes in construction bounce around a lot due in part to the effects of weather (even after seasonal adjustment).

If you look at year-over-year growth, which is a 12-month moving average that smooths out these fluctuations, this is what it looks like in construction:

Nov 2025: +58K
Nov 2024: +189K
Nov 2023: +221K
Nov 2022: +299K
Nov 2021: +244K
Nov 2020: -220K
Nov 2019: +131K
Nov 2018: +318K
Nov 2017: +245K
Nov 2016: +225K

As the numbers show this is the second worse year for construction job growth in the past decade. Only 2020 was worse.
