The left's hate of Elon is something to behold. The media has their wind-up toys destroying people's property (Tesla) with a stupid, made up narrative. Personally I hope Trump does prosecute and convict everyone of these losers. And if the right starts doing stupid crap like that, I hope they lock them up too.

This right here sort of encapsulates everything I find bankrupt about the tech industry today, very much including Elon. “AI” is doing some truly impressive things in terms of how its actual capabilities are progressing, but the people in charge of these projects aren’t happy to live in reality and want to pretend their search-and-find+calculator bot is Einstein in a box and can answer questions and provide qualitative evaluations on things.
This Einstein board thing is equal parts insanely cool and wildly misleading. The bot does not know what it’s doing when it generates Einstein’s work, and if it gets any part of it right, it’s blind luck based on having that information fed to it previously. And there are *vast* possibilities that open up technologically the more reliably these machines can be optimized to provide more accurate responses that are genuinely fascinating and exciting. But they know the public wants sentient computers so we will continue to be told by the Elons of the world how Grok is able to do complex physics on a whim.

Yeah, this one isn’t really a partisan divide, more of a general disdain for an industry that deeply relies on pretending to be digital sorcery rather than a fun (and potentially transformative) productivity tool.

Elon Musk’s entire contribution to the discourse these days is either crying about how unfair it is that people don’t appreciate him for all the hard work he’s doing to save America or calling for people to be fired. For all the talk of authoritarianism in this administration, it’s shocking how much of their messaging is just crying that the Libs or Deep State are too mean to them personally.
