Ender

Right, Puig's work ethic could very well be beyond all hope. He's rich already. He may not give two ****s about improving.

If he cost basically nothing to acquire (like Markakis plus a marginal young arm), then he can be cut loose or left in AAA if he doesn't grow up.

That's the point. If the risk is minimal his upside is worth it. I don't see the Braves getting a 4-5 WAR talent any other way in the near future.

I'm not going to pretend that player's attitudes can't and don't rub off on other guys or cause disruption.

But that's so damn easy to say when you have zero idea of what Puig is like. I think Puig is an awesome player and if this were a video game, I would be the first to trade for him again and again and again, but when the Dodgers are demoting him to the minor leagues when he's had a .400 OBP the last two months and he has the skills that he has, how does that not scream out to you that Puig is cancerous. And it's not just the Braves taking a moral stand (because God knows we have cut our corners in our recent past), but every team in baseball had their chance to get him for ten cents on the dollar and nobody took the bait. Puig is toxic.

I have zero care for what Puig is like. None. He either doesn't perform and gets released, performs and acts right and you possibly keep him or trade him at a higher value, or he performs while being a headcase and you release or trade.

Get him out of the spot light of LA and it could be much easier to create value. The media plays a role as well and he'll be mostly left alone in Atlanta.

I'm not sure where you got this info. He wasn't traded before the deadline, which only means they didn't receive an offer they deemed worthy.

That would be like saying nobody wanted Teheran because he wasn't traded.

When Puig hits the waiver wire I guarantee teams claim him.

In fact:

Wait, they didn't trade him because they didn't get a "worthy offer" but somehow they hope to get a better offer through waivers?

I'm not buying that.

But they traded for his replacement and sent him to the minors the day after the deadline passed despite his .400 OBP

You're right. It's speculation, but its speculation that's way more than likely true.

OK, let's make a bet. You have to leave the board forever if Puig is placed on waivers and is claimed.

If he passes through wavers unclaimed, I will leave.

Deal? Who else is willing to actually back up their so-called expert opinions? Yeezus? I am.

You do realize that what you are saying is completely obvious, right?

if so, we have a team full of pussies and will never amount to anything.

I don't know why you pretend like team chemistry is unimportant. And this would likely cause disent from the players towards management. How can management justify to the rest of the team that they are bringing in someone with a known poor attitude/work ethic who is also linked to domestic violence and that they are going to start him over a very well respected veteran/leader on the team?

I don't think Inciarte can hit LH. If we had the other side of the platoon I'd feel better.

If he was our 8th hitter I'd feel better.

The idea that he's a top of the order hitter is crazy to me.

If the defensive stats are all they are cracked up to be then we should have Lipka, Mallex, and Inciarte in the OF where they'd all be 2 WAR players on D alone.

Agreed 100%. Either Ender or Mallex needs to start in CF, and the other is completely redundant. Whichever is kept (I prefer Mallex) needs to be platooned with a RHed CFer similar to Rajai Davis.

Inciarte has hit .274 vs lefties even with this being an off and injury-riddled season. Also, comparing Inciarte to Lipka on defense and even Mallex doesn't do him justice. Inciarte is as good as it gets defensively and unlike most can give elite level defense at all three outfield positions.

Your opinion of the Cowboys is 100% opposite of this.

First, what is my opinion of the Cowboys?

Second, has Puig ever been convicted of beating up his girlfriend and showing no remorse? Puig go into a fight with a bouncer and pushed his sister who was trying to break it up.

do what?

Puig has shown in the past an ability to hit very well. Inciarte has not. Certainly at age 25, he has the chance to grow offensively, but there is nothing in his past that suggest he's going to be much of a hitter.

Puig sucks. Inciarte does not.

I wouldn't mind putting a claim on him. If not to block him somewhere else, but maybe we get him for just his contract. Give up no prospects to get him. Then trade Neck.
