FanDuel Sports Networks Could Shut Down Unless Sale To DAZN Closes Next Month

Braves are one of the few teams that are extremely attractive in tv markets so finding a home will be easy. As long as they don’t screw it up this time. They are owned by a freaking media conglomerate they can produce their own shit and leave everyone in the dust lol

Last year, if I recall, when the Padres were playing DTV just added a channel for their market. It was just run by MLB. No different than a regional net has ever been. I doubt we even notice a difference. Its a bit of a mountain out of a mole hill if you ask me.

Cable companies are famously consistent for offering sports channels. Agreed, 0% chance this causes any issues.

These are the teams who were with FanDuel and all those contracts ended:

Braves
Cardinals
Rays
Marlins
Reds
Brewers
Tigers
Royals
Angels

So you’ve got a lot of what you’d call “middle market” teams. A couple small market with the Florida teams. Another team in a large market, but carries itself as a middle market and in the shadow of a large team in the same city. The Braves are definitely in a better spot than all the others. Cardinals are up there with them because they do also have a national following, though the Braves have the larger geographical footprint. This is certainly where having The Battery can be a help.

The main bad thing the Braves have here, and it goes for the other teams as well, is the timing of all this. If we all had known this was going to be the case back in August or September, then there would have been more time to plan ahead. Because it’s two and a half months until Opening Day, probably not enough time to do anything else but have MLB produce the games. If they wanted to start their own network or something, probably not enough time.

Is this the biggest deal the Braves have had to deal with? Probably not. One way or another, the games will be shown. But it’s worth the discussion. In the short and long term, it’s probably for the best. The team no longer has to deal with the uncertainty. The thing that will have to be addressed is the revenue and how it’s affected by all this.

Hopefully the Braves use this year to set their own deal up. This just feels like an opportunity for MLB to screw them again.

My grizzlies are doing what all my sport teams do these days, so guess it's a great time to save $20 month

I have a jail broken tv service on my fire stick that gets me pretty much every channel I need. I even get minor league games when they are broadcasted. So I am pretty confident I will have Braves games when I have time to watch them. Biggest issue I have is the delay. About 7-10 seconds so if I have alerts on, I know what happens before my tv services shows it.

I have Kodi, but never use that.. too much work. This is a "provider" that does it all for me. I pay like 20 bucks a month for all the channels I want ( I have some crazy foreign channels too that I never use) I have all the local channels for a crap ton of cities (including my own) .. But I only watch news, sports, and documentaries on TV really.. I don't watch a ton of tv, and my Kids are mostly grown, so I just don't want to spend a crap ton of money on a cable package I won't use. My wife loves the movies/series on Apple/prime/Netflix/etc... so we have some of those subs.. but I don't pay much attention to them myself.

Someone just put it out of its misery. No one has made money or even come close to breaking even on that shit in 2 decades. Why do people think they can resurrect it? Unless they just need a 10 billion dollar loss for a tax write off

The Braves would probably prefer it than making next to nothing with MLB doing the broadcasts. No time to get anything viable put together on their own. It's pretty stunning to me though why there wasn't already foresight into this last year and two years ago.
