Farewell to Wood, Peraza, Jimmy Johns, and Avilans.

We might be about to find out how much Woody is actually worth.

Hearing #Dodgers are talking about moving Alex Wood to #Cubs

So now you are signing a starter in his 30s or approaching it. So, is the team "going for it" now?

I'm just giving a realistic perception of how the front office looks at it. I've stated on record I do not agree with their plan or the pieces they've acquired in most of the deals thus far. I'm at least trying to understand though.

And it's a very real possibility that Wood gets hurt. He has been more htable this year. What if that trend continues like it did with Hanson/JJ/Beachy?

That's something that no one can predict, the Braves devalued their own player...I'm not totally against the trade, just saying that Wood, Peraza, Avilan and JJ should have netted the Braves more than it did...I don't see how anyone could argue with that...

Why woould the Dodgers need another OF? They would have to be trying to package Wood with an expensive OF. Just doesn't make sense

Obv. we are jumping the gun. Chances of this happening are slim. Besides, how to you think Alex feels about this. Wood might need massaging.

Lots of other good stuff in there, but wanted to point this out in reference to my post this AM.

How happy is Loria we took that costly sandwich pick off his hands. That thing carries some serious cash attached. Now he doesn't have to bother paying that player.

They get away with being a straight **** eating franchise.

Kiley seems to be ignoring shelf life. He's 30. How can a guy be a top 10 prospect or comared to Bryant with a shelf life of possibly 3-4 years?

If you want to get technical, none of that is a given. I mean, Bryant could be out of the league next year or 10 years from now. Not likely, but its possible.

They also traded 6 years of Peraza, Avilan, and JJ. I don't see why Wood is likely to not get better since he's 24 years old. We got slightly over 5 years of Olivera, but I don't see how he's very possibly a 4 WAR player....hell, ignoring, the majority of projections; he can't even stay on the field.
I mean yeah. It was a lot to give up and I wouldn't make the trade, but it's an entirely different thing to suggest it wasn't grounded in reason.

You have no idea what Olivera is. You have never seen him play and you have nothing to base statistical projections off of. He could be a 15 WAR player for all the knowledge you have. I simply provided a reasonable high end projection based off what Kiley and Badler think he could do. We are all speculating it's just I'm allowing you to share your thoughts on his upside without telling you that you are unrealistic.
