"In 129 years, we could not find a single ruling by a police department, an inquest or a police commission that a shooting was unjustified."

What I Did After Police Killed My Son

It took six years to get our wrongful death lawsuit settled, and my family received $1.75 million. But I wasn’t satisfied by a long shot. I used my entire portion of that money and much more of my own to continue a campaign for more police accountability. I wanted to change things for everyone else, so no one else would ever have to go through what I did. We did our research: In 129 years since police and fire commissions were created in the state of Wisconsin, we could not find a single ruling by a police department, an inquest or a police commission that a shooting was unjustified. There was one shooting we found, in 2005, that was ruled justified by the department and an inquest, but additional evidence provided by citizens caused the DA to charge the officer. The city of Milwaukee settled with a confidentiality agreement and the facts of that sealed. The officer involved committed suicide.

And people still wonder why blacks mistrust the po po? Seriously. They can do things that you don't have privy information to, more so with blacks, but whites with records get almost the same treatment if they want you.

in Ferguson news so far today, the cops arrested a 90+ year old holocaust survivor and arrested photo journalist scott olsen who has given us some of the best pictures thus far for "not being in the designated picture taking zone" seriously. Freedom of the Press be damned

she survived Hitler but got arrested today in the land of the Free:

Shirt says "Stay Human"

He's knows quite well that his personally providing "inspiring commentary" is likely to muddle the situation and do more harm than good: http://vox.com/e/5795238

That certainly didn't prevent him from opining with candor regarding Professor Gates / Trayvon Martin.

I understand that, especially in what has become a lame duck term virtually overnight, the safest political route for Obama to chart until 2016 is zero-risk. But racial politics were supposed to be a hallmark of his. That the only race initiative he referred to this afternoon was his recent work with My Brother's Keeper was fairly disheartening coming from a President who knocked our socks off philosophizing on race relations circa 2008 ('The Race Speech' per Klein's article).

This on top of his making scant/zero mention of the two other issues borne out of the Ferguson situation: the militarization of the nation's police, and blatant encroachment on the freedoms of the press.

Another missed opportunity to ... lead, or something. Don't want to be too hard on the guy, he looked pretty worn this afternoon.
