Freddie Freeman Appreciation Thread

I think we can safely unpin this thread - What a disaster ending to what should have been an all-time Brave great.

Safe to say he won't have any commemoration when he hangs it up?

I don’t know about that, but he’ll get a commemorative retirement/HoF induction for sure in Atlanta.

This will blow over. He meant too much to the organization. Guarantee there will be a video tribute when the Dodgers come to town in June.

Freddie screwed up if he really was surprised when Olson was signed. I wonder if the Dodgers lowered their price after that.

Love the Jensen deal. Screw the Dodgers. Maybe AA can steal Mookie Betts too.

I'll miss Freddie, but it is what it is. I'm grateful for everything and there's not much he can do to ruin that, at least for me.

Chipper said enough - and we know Freddie heard it.

I hope when we host the Dodgers that FF gets a good ovation his first AB for all that he's done for the franchise and after that page is closed I hope he gets the Bryce Harper treatment from every AB thereafter.

Freddie deserves an ovation every at bat for batting behind Jace Peterson for two years without his nice complaining.

We owe Freddie a championship. The best thing we can do to make him regret his choices is show him love every time he’s in Atlanta.

It’s going to be like Glavine. People will be irritated but I think eventually there will be some form of reconciliation. I still remember seeing him in that Muts uniform and Andruw Jones taking him deep his first game in Atlanta. I think it was actually opening day.

It wasn’t. It was in May. I was at the game.

I was there too. It’s been a long time. I guess I was confused. I remember being 21 and angry about it. I guess I get it now but I don’t feel the same way about him I do Smoltz and Chipper.

I remember enjoying it because I never cared for Glavine. Sacrilege, I know.

Glav was and still is my all-time fav Brave. He was my last boyhood idol. Smoltz had better stuff, Maddux could truly make a ball seemingly dance and do what he wanted. But Glavine was so mentally tough. Once he figured it out, he always kept his team in the game. Freddie will be welcomed back with open arms mainly because it seems from interviews that Freddie's reps basically made the decision they were not letting him come back to ATL no matter what.

I'm not a big Glavine fan. I found him extremely annoying as an announcer. But I will always be grateful to him and Dave Justice for game 6 in the 1995 World Series. I knew that Indians lineup, with all the right handed power hitters, was optimized for him. And sure enough they all went down chasing that changeup off the outside corner. One of those rare times things unfolded as hoped and expected.

Very classy letter and apology Freddie issued through Mark Bowman. I’m glad he validated my frustration I had with his comments last week and directly addressed his admiration with AA.

He’s a wonderful player and a world class person. I wish it worked out for him so he could retire here, but it seems like everyone gets to settle with the next best thing.

Fredito is a serious oenophile. He's gonna enjoy himself. Although a northern Californian team would have been better for pursuing his hobby.

Happy to see Freddie wrote that letter. Hated to see the direction his exit from the Braves was headed. Sorry for him that he couldn’t agree to a contact but long term I am happy with the outcome.
