Fredi Gonzalez Rant Thread.

I know many here don't regard defensive metrics as anything, and I know SSS for sure plays a big part in both of these but

Fredi defensively replaced TLS with Pena

Pena on the year at 2B has a -1 DRS and -0.6 UZR

TLS on the year has a DRS of 0 and a 1.1 UZR

Those numbers of course will refresh behind other numbers, but still, it's not like Pena is a defensive juggernaut while TLS has been screwing up. He leaves a lot to be desired but he doesn't mess up too bad.
 
yeah and Pena hit in the 9th (and also in extras). Isn't the whole idea of a defensive replacement to insert him late enough so he doesn't hit? I don't blame Fredi for the extras, that's the chance you have to take, but look at the lineup card before deciding weather to put him in in the 8th.
 
CJ has a -8 DRS so far this year, worse than last year (CJ was -6 DRS last year). While Pena's best position is third, so it would actually make more sense to replace your worst defender late in games (esp. since Pena has never been as good at second as he is short and third).

To sum it up, while I know the sample size for La Stella is small and I don't regard his defense as a strength. I do believe CJ is worse at third than La Stella is at second.

It is interesting going to the Nats baseball Forums today. They have the same issues with Matt Williams and players Brave people here do.

You could interchangeably take a standard form and just fill in the names.
Wonder if that is what happens ??

Williams is worse than Fredi imo. His decision to let Strasburg bat down 4-1 with over 90 pitches was pretty bad.
 
Ya I dont like freddi by any means, but he's not the worst in baseball. The NL east is pretty poor overall. Freddi, Williams, Sandberg, and Collins are all below average imo.
 
What do you guys think about how we haven't had a day off since the break, but Fredi didn't take the opportunity yesterday to get some of our regulars a little rest?
 
You guys are taking it too far. When I read that quote I read Bobby speak. Fredi isn't going to publicly trash his players.
