This season has been a culmination ofa number of things gone bad to lead us to this point:
Offseason: We lose a major part of the veteran presence in the clubhouse in McCann and Huddy
Spring Training: We lose 2/5 of our projected rotation, Minor is injured and sits out a majority of the spring,
Season: Uggla/BJ continue to struggle mightily eventually leading to Uggla's release, Freeman has been up and down on the offensive side of the ball, Johnson is not performing like he did last year, Gattis injury, Heyward struggled offensively for a majority of the season, JUp most consistent hitter so far this season despit road struggles. Avilan falls off the map, Walden injured, Kimbrel being very human, bullpen in general not as strong as we have come to know. Minor has been downright terrible ALL season long. Santana has been good for the most part despite that rough stretch. Harang has been steady. Losing Floyd to that injury when he was becoming our best pitcher.
Everything plus I am sure I have left some out, has lead to where we are at right now. I am sure that we can turn it around because we have 50+ games to go. But it is about time to have a closed door meeting and get everything out there that needs to be said. The veterans of this team need to step up and lead this club with professionalism that a leader should have. You should never have the first base coach gather 3 team mates in the dugout and go off on them for not paying attention. That is inexcusable and tells you exactly the mindset of this team. That is why there needs to be a closed door bru-ha-ha NOW.
