Fredi Gonzalez Rant Thread.

Bobby gave us ****ty playoff performances his last 10 years here. They just called it a "crapshoot." That mantra isn't appropriate all of a sudden?

I don't care if it is all of a sudden, or 10 years late. **** has to change. Whatever the mindset is that is being put in place is not working.

Being one of the best teams in baseball year in and year out is not working?

This is the worst overreaction I've seen from this place in some time. Maybe ever.

Won't believe until I see. Doesn't feel like a "Braves Way" response.

You're right, it doesn't. But maybe the Braves need to rethink some aspects of the "Braves Way", 'cause something is clearly not working. I agree that the playoffs are a crapshoot to some extend, but constantly writing off these performances to bad luck feels more and more like a cop out.

7 straight postseason series lost, plus last year's debacle, most following a very similar script. ONE convincing win in that entire run (game 2 in the 2005 NLDS). Key players constantly underperforming. Players that constantly look overwhelmed out there (yes, "youngest team" is to some extent an explanation for this year). Maybe things need to be shaken up a little.

Let's say the Braves fire Fredi, who's available that would be a legitimate replacement and not a change for the sake of change?

I'd like to bring Brad Ausmus (sp?) in for an interview. He was reportedly close to getting the Boston job.

As far as I'm concerned, he's a really good manager. That Yankees team had nothing all year and stayed competitive. SP sucked. Everyone was injured. Still hung tight. I'd take Girardi in a second.

I love managers who were major league catchers.

I meant from this place as a whole. Not just from you in particular.

Sorry, I had a ****ty day yesterday. I agree, though. I haven't been this angry after a playoff loss in some time... whether it is justified or not.

There needs to be some alterations to "The Braves Way." I love our organization, and I love our success over the years, but I always get the impression there is more urgency around "doing things the right way" than actual urgency to win things. I don't see the fire. It's like when we lose, the players are coddled and led to believe everything will be ok. Cox was an amazing manager, and was our players biggest supporters, but wasn't the type to get in their face if he had to. Fredi is the same way. It's like we've fallen on this nonchalant culture of doing things.

2011 was definitely a shot. I guess last year is arguable with the change in format.

Bobby had a few September collapses in the late 2000's.

As for Fredi, he's progressively gotten better in his tenure here.

2011 just missed the playoffs.
2012 Wild Card game.
2013 Division title
2014...?

Fredi was a catcher. lol

Generally speaking, firing your manager is a bad idea. As long as he's not banging the secretaries and showing up drunk he'll keep his job. This obsession with producing winning teams is silly. It's getting as bad as college football.

That is not true about Bobby. He had a below .500 September in 2010 and only three his whole time with the team. Fredi already has two.

So what do you attribute that to?

I am not positive, honestly. I think it is a combination. Under Fredi, the bullpen is noticeable tired by the end of the year. That happened with Bobby, too, but not near as often. And Fredi also doesn't do well with the bench. So, when they are called on to give the regulars rest late in the season, they are usually rusty and don't perform all that well. Both of those are contributing factors.

In light of hearing about this whole Chipper thing, someone in a position of authority needs to go. Shame on Fredi, Wren, JS for letting that happen.
