Fredi has been extent through 2016, Option for 2017

Maybe a bit out there, but is it possible they also want to show Gonzalez as the head coach to all those international free agents next year? I would think it would be more appealing to have a relatable presence to look forward to and even talk with when considering which team to sign with.

Yeah, that's a bit of a stretch. No advisor worth his salt will steer a player toward an organization based on a manager being there for an additional year or two. By the time any of these kids are sniffing the majors, we could very well be through 2 more managers.

I don't know about you guys, but I think this was the best part of the Fredi extension:

Pitching coach Roger McDowell, hitting coach Kevin Seitzer and the rest of the Braves' coaching staff were extended, as well. Atlanta is a better-than-expected 42-47 this season and 400-337 since Gonzalez took the reins in 2011, although they've yet to win a postseason series over that span.

I think those guys are GONE if we shipped Fredi off.

Except we've only had two managers in the past 20+ years, one of whom retired. So even if they say there's no guarantee with coaches, we can also say we have consistency with keeping them on-board. I'm not saying that this is the primary reason they extended Fredi. But I would think it would be an added benefit with their long-term plans once that signing period gets underway. It HAS to have crossed their mind, even if jokingly.

Why Hart wanted to extend Fredi is puzzling to me, but he was smart to do it now versus wait til November. It would have been a PR nightmare to extend him at the end of a 70 win season.

Looks like I was way off!

But I'm happy for Fredi. He's worked hard for this. Has the team playing an attractive aggressive style and has gotten them to overachieve. Perfect manager for taking this franchise to the next level. You have to be patient. First comes palatable. Then competitive. Then contending. Then winning. Then championship. Rome wasn't built in a day.

I get tired of the constant Fredi bashing. Not because the criticisms are necessarily wrong, I just get tired of hearing it.

That said, I too was hoping for new management. Oh well.

Well, whatever, it is what it is. Once Coppolella takes over, he'll shape the organization into his vision anyway. Maybe they're respecting that eventuality and just keeping all the current players in place knowing that that lies ahead.

Better hope the 2 Johns and Cox aren't sprinkling Coppy with the magic pixie dust to where he falls in love with Fredi and gives him a lifetime managerial job like Cox until he wants to call it quits.

JS probably had a hand in convincing Hart that long term Fredi is the high caliber manager we need to win when we get all our ducks in a row.

I don't care who is manager of the team. Managers in baseball are so over rated. Silly getting upset over them since they really don't affect the standings.

They don't do a lot positive. But they can be very negative.

I don't see us having a BP managed well with Freddi. I don't see us ever being a big base stealing team with Freddie.

Does someone have the Florida Evans Gif from good times...Please for the love of all humanity post that! Damn! Damn! Damn!
