Fredi has been extent through 2016, Option for 2017

They don't do a lot positive. But they can be very negative.

I don't see us having a BP managed well with Freddi. I don't see us ever being a big base stealing team with Freddie.

What Fredi does with the BP, most managers do with the BP. IMO, Fredi is like most managers in MLB. You can put them in a bag, shake them up, and pull one out at random. You will essentially have the same guy.

The fact of the matter is, this is a team that many felt would be one of the worst teams in all of baseball this year after the trades that were made in the off season. The fact that they are 42-47 is a testament to the fact that Fredi, while he is not great, is not the worst manager in all of baseball history that he is made out to be.

I'm indifferent on the move, but I'm not ready to throw everything this front office has done to this point to build the system back up away and say they made a drastic mistake in extended Fredi.

My biggest issue with Fredi is not his use of the bullpen or how he makes out his line up. My biggest issue is he does not appear to have the backs of his players at times, and I think he says some things publicly that should be said inside the locker room. The Alex Wood situation stands out. Bobby would have been tossed before Alex in that situation. Maybe my issue is that I'm using Bobby as the bench mark, and that is a bench mark that may be unattainable no matter who is managing the team.

Told y'all Fredi was going nowhere. He is in this thing until the Braves brass feels he has failed when he shouldn't have. That means he will be here at least thru 2017...

I don't know about you guys, but I think this was the best part of the Fredi extension:

Pitching coach Roger McDowell, hitting coach Kevin Seitzer and the rest of the Braves' coaching staff were extended, as well. Atlanta is a better-than-expected 42-47 this season and 400-337 since Gonzalez took the reins in 2011, although they've yet to win a postseason series over that span.

I think those guys are GONE if we shipped Fredi off.

THIS.

Agreed. Can't believe people are so surprised at this (well, maybe the timing). Next year will be like this year; the 2017 plan hasn't waivered.

I think it's hilarious that an in depth interview with Hart where he praises Fredi to the heavens, says it will be an easy decision whether to keep him and then refuses to publicly name a date when he's going to extent him is interpreted by 90% of this board as "Fredi sucks and he won't be managing next year."

Y'all are like Fox News watchers. Sitting there in a circle jerk posture agreeing with each other that Fredi sucks. Meanwhile, the guys actually making the decisions have absolutely diametrically opposed thoughts to the groupthink.

Fredi doesn't suck. He's a decent manager. They don't make a hell of a lot of difference as long as they've got a few working brain cells and treat people decently enough. You got problems with his bullpen management? You got problems with everybody's, because everybody uses their bullpen about the same way. One inning at a time.

Go look at every other team team in the league's message board. Everybody thinks their guy is an idiot.

Well? Fairly self-evident that they like him, isn't it? Just signed him to an extension? With an option?

And this happened two days after most posters read his boss' quotes as saying he's gone?

Whats the facepalm for? Because I don't get in line and agree he sucks?

I think he's a pretty good manager. I don't think he's ****ing John McGraw.

But I'm pretty sure you or I could have managed the '27 Yankees to the pennant.

I just don't think it matters a huge amount.
