Not good still.

US wins against Ghana is a total must. Portugal is the next most likely team to be beaten. It will be very tough for sure. I am nervous to see what kind of Dirtiness Pepe has in store for Jozy. Germans will steamroll the US I'm sure. They'll have the US running around with their heads cut off.

Chances are really slim. They are the 4th best team in group and heavy underdog to make it out.

I think they draw with Ghana and lose to Portugal and Germany, but you never know.
 
How does this whole thing work? I know there are like 8 different groups or something? With 4 teams in each group. Does each team in a group play each other and then then highest scoring advances? 2 points for a win, 1 for a tie, and 0 for a loss.

Pretty much.

8 groups in group stage, 4 teams per group.

Each team plays each other once, and the scoring system is exactly how you said it was. However in the event there is a tie, they used goal aggregate (goals scored, goals allowed) to push the next guy forward. After group stage is done, you're left with 16 teams, that's when it goes to single elimination stage.

I'm guessing they're gonna use him a lot like they used to use Villa. Just as a poacher. He doesn't bring much else to the table though aside from being an offensive threat with scoring or killer passes. Not that there is anything bad to that of course, but he isn't gonna be much of a holdup threat which I think is fine for Spain, they send the ball up to him he'll get beat or send it back. Costa should score goals but I think people are expecting too much from him. He may prove me wrong but I see 3 goals max from him and Spain's success is much more dependent on Pedro and Fabregas.
